Even goal scorer Jack Riewoldt couldn’t believe he got away with it.

(1) When there is no prior you still have to attempt to dispose of it. Regardless, after taking possession he took a step and a half. (2) Cameron free wasn't there in the first place so it balanced out. Hipwood was stupid. (3) The throw you refer to was in the last quarter, when it was all over. (4) May have missed based on the rest of the night. They were awarded another mark in front of goal that was clearly touched (Vlastuin I think) so balances out. Both very difficult to tell so it is unfair to refer to it as a blatent error. Blatent only with a frame by frame slow mo.

4 goal head-start from blatant umpire errors makes a massive difference in any match and was very unfair to Brisbane's chances. (1) Free to Riewoldt for holding the ball de despite taking possession for a tenth of a second, (2) free to Grimes for acting (depriving Charlie Cameron of a set shot 20-30 metres out straight in front), (3) obvious throw from Dusty that gave Riewoldt his second goal, and (4) clear one-grab mark denied to Hipwood 20-30 metres out straight in front - all for reckons occurred early in the 1st quarter and were highlighted by the commentators as horrendous calls. It spoiled the game (unless you're a Tigers supporter).

It might have been the most blatant throw for some time but during almost every game there are probably 20 -30 throws (or illegal handpasses) that go un penalised. It was a bad decision but didn't affect the result. Riewoldt's reaction to the replay was priceless.
