If a player is going to the bench its a dog act, going into a game with an injury someone targets the injury you are fair game ,Rampey and the Swans need to be looked at by Worksafe on returning to work provisions, my workplace wouldn't let you back to work in under a fortnight after surgery on a hand
Carlisle isn’t the most popular fella in the league but he doesn’t have a case to answer for here and it is a completely manufactured outrage by the media and an exaggeration to say that he “targeted” Rampe’s hand. It appeared to me from the footage that he barely made any contact with his hand. Rampe was given the green light to play and he shouldn’t get a free pass from the action on the field just because he was wearing a glove. It seems to me he bit off a bit more than he could chew and he shouldn’t have provoked the Saints players if he didn’t want to get in a scuffle. Always two sides to a story. Mind boggles why he played anyway if his injury was that serious and it dubious whether the opposition would have been aware of it.
I remember it and considered it a dog act by Scott & Michael. If a player has an injury then it is fair to tackle him when he is in contact with the ball. It is when opposition players target an injury of a player off the ball that I classify as a dog act.
AS a Saints fan with a long memory I recall a young Nick Riewoldt suffering a shoulder injury at the Gabba & returning to the field He then copped continual "treatment" from the LIons & the after match comment from Brisbane was "on field every player is fair game". Perhaps Col from Brissie is too young to remember the incident or conveniently forgotten it.
