Stop the blame game and find a solution to fix the AFL

By The Roar / Editor

The second lowest scoring game since the formation of the AFL has raised further concern about what can be done to fix the game. David King believes coaches can start by working on a solution instead of blaming each other for what is essentially their own doing by playing defence even in attack.

Attacking teams win finals. The Lyons coaches are only about saving face.

Well the tactics the coaches employ are inevitable. It's up to the AFL (& probably the major state bodies as well) to coordinate rule changes to be implemented like zones , interchange reductions/bans etc to get this sport back to where it should be.

Welcome to professional sport. These guys get paid to win games of footy for their club, everything else is irrelevant. The funniest part is how some supporters believe their club is somehow different, that their coach plays ‘attacking footy’ and actually gives a toss about the ‘good of the game’. What a load of deluded rubbish. They all get numbers around the contest and fold back in defence, tactics designed to restrict ball movement and attacking footy. King is right, the only people who can do anything about it are the coaches, but they prefer to sit back and whinge about a problem they created and blame everyone’s else for it.
