The Big Bash continues tonight when the Brisbane Heat take on the Perth Scorchers at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match starting at 7.10pm AEDT.

We’re not yet halfway through the BBL but both of these teams will be desperate for a victory tonight. Both the Heat and Scorchers only have one win each to date, with the Heat having one match to hand. A loss to either side will see them start to lose touch with the leading pack.

After a slow start to the season, the Heat found some form against the Sixers in their last game, over a week ago now. Chris Lynn was heading for the fastest 100 in BBL history until he was caught on the fence and dismissed for 94 runs off just 35 balls. If Lynn gets away tonight, the Scorchers will be in all sorts of trouble.

Matt Renshaw also starred against the Sixers with a well made 60 but the rest of the batting order has failed to fire so far. AB De Villiers will no doubt help the situation when he arrives. However, much will depend again on Lynn and Renshaw tonight.

Strong on paper, the Scorchers just haven’t performed to expectations as yet. Their last start 48 run loss to the Sixers was especially disappointing, as they had the Sixers 5/117 off 14 overs. Only some late hitting from Tom Curran set a challenging target of 174. The Scorchers batting line capitulated.

With the likes of Cameron Bancroft, Ashton Turner and Mitch Marsh, the Scorchers should be travelling better. They will get that chance tonight facing off against a Heat attack that is not the strongest in the competition.

Prediction:

The fate of this game, to a large extent, depends on Chris Lynn. His innings against the Sixers was extraordinary and may be a sign that he is entering a rich vein of form.

On that basis, I am picking the Heat to win back to back games.

Brisbane Heat to win by 30 runs or 5 wickets

Yeah they freely scored when the pressure was off, no expectations on them as tail enders and basicallt nothing to lose. The game was effectively over.

That should’ve been out when it hit his bat the he’s foot and then the stumps

When all the players return later in the season I'd play Renshaw, Lynn, DeVilliers, Labuschagne, Burns, Pierson, Pattinson, Lalor, Laughlin, Swepson, Mujeeb The question is by the time that happens whether they'll be in finals contention still or not.

Yes, they are very skinny up top. I'd open with Lynn as Banton and Bryant haven't stepped up. They do get Joe Burns back after the Sydney test. With the addition of de Villiers and Burns, the batting order should have some more starch.

Yes, not good, when no 11 top scores and no 10 is second highest

The Perth Scorchers may have just got their season back on track tonight after a 40 run win over the Brisbane Heat. The Scorchers 149 was considered just below par but it was way too good for the Heat as they never really got their innings going. The loss of 4 wickets within the Power Play hurt and then Agar and Ahmed put the skids on any type of comeback. Chris Lynn was forced to play conservatively given the steady loss of wickets but eventually had to hit out when he was batting with the tail. AB de Villiers will no doubt improve this team when he arrives for the last 6 games but he can't do it all himself. As it stands, if Lynn doesn't score big, the Brisbane Heat lose. That's a lot of pressure for the Heat captain to handle. The Scorchers jump to 6th spot on the back of this win. They next play the Hobart Hurricanes back in Perth on Sunday night. The Brisbane Heat's season doesn't get any easier as they travel to Blundstone Arena on Friday night to play the Hurricanes

Last 2 batsmen scored one third of the total. Perhaps they should open next game.

Heat should sign consistent players like Khawaja. Players like Cutting are hit & miss. Once again batting hasn't been sensible. All very well Lynn & Lehmann to say "we'll keep swinging till the end". Quality bowlers will have success against that mindset.

WICKET. Kelly gets his man. Laughlin goes for a repeat of his previous 4 but doesn't get hold of it and Livingstone takes the catch.
