The Ashes might have been decided, but Australia are desperate to beat England in England in a series for the first time since 2001 as the fifth Test dawns. Join The Roar for live scores from 8pm (AEST).
Having lost the third Test and been lucky to escape with a draw in the fourth Test after rain prevented England capitalising on their dominance, Australia still have the chance to end a 22-year barren run in the motherland if they can win or draw at The Oval.
However, England, who have named an unchanged XI for the final Test of the series, have had the measure of the visitors across the last two Tests, and will strongly back themselves to square the series 2-2 just as they did in 2019, despite the carrot of winning the series being unavailable to them.

How is a prediction a positive comment re Cummins?

It's so amazing to have 2 Aussie women so good at the same event. As in top 5 in the world, almost sharing top 2 in the world annually, and sharing the Aus record at 2.02. WCs are soon, she is back and jumped 1.96 the other day, WCs are soon and she is reigning champ! She does also train with another Starc of course.

James. I'm almost certain I will know - small town in South Gippsland. But like Superman, I cannot reveal my identity.

I better check the scoresheet again. Don said Cummins made one run. (Score check: Cummins made a total of 82 runs and went out once. Pretty good for someone whose 'batting has suffered.' Cummins batting average is normally 16.98. For this series it is 24.4. I eagerly await Don's usual excuses and exceptions and buts and ifs. But simply, Don is wrong again. And no apology will be coming)

I'm guessing that Don believes that the the Carey drop was also the fault of Cummins, in addition to the Smith drop. He is a funny one.

She sure is. And a world champion. I actually know her too. I have kids who do athletics, a close family friend used to train with her. Lovely person, fierce competitor.

Apologies on behalf of rational, respectful Australians.

Not according to Don. He reckons England should have been all out for 17. And it's all Pat Cummins' fault.

That's why it's important to pay attention to what I post. Here's a bloke who knows stuff. Allow yourself to be informed.

Really? You think Don has a different view on a sportman's ability just because his post code starts with a 6? Surely you jest!!!!!

Renshaw averages in the 20s you know. We all know he has seen better times, but I haven't seen anyone I would play in front of him.

I've plenty. I've predicted a 3-1. Just not what you want ne to think.

Don is not happy because Mitch Starc was not born in Western Australia.

'captain a clique'. Pray tell, Don, how are you privy to so much of what happens in the coaching meetings? You are truly amazing

I like your analogy, Perthstayer!

Barb. We arrived in England with the world’s best bowling unit and top 2 ranked batsmen. We then became World Champions. England have an aged bowling unit, a retired spinner, and been forced to replace their best no. 3 with a has been. Cummins has led a team of stars through mediocre performances. He’s made a lot of good decisions, but too many others a little late, or even worse not at all. We are a Djokovic struggling to put a Nick Kyrios to the sword.
