England will continue their World Cup campaign on Monday at Trent Bridge against the struggling Pakistan. Join The Roar for all the action, with live scores and a blog of the match from 7:30pm (AEST).
England opened their home World Cup tournament with a win against South Africa. It was a massive 104-run victory, England bowling out South Africa with 10.1 overs to spare.
After losing Jonny Bairstow on the second ball of the tournament, Jason Roy, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan all went on to make half-centuries, while Ben Stokes put on 89 runs, before Jofra Archer took three wickets, while Liam Plunkett and Ben also pitched in with two wickets each.
Pakistan suffered an embarrassing defeat, dismantled by the West Indies in just 21.4 overs. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam top scored with 22 runs each, as Pakistan were bowled out for just 105 runs.
It took the West Indies just 13.4 overs to make the small target, Mohammad Amir the only bowler to slow down the chase, taking three wickets.
In their most recent ODI series, just prior to the World Cup, England beat Pakistan 4-0 and the fifth game was washed out.
The scores in that series were all around the 350 mark and Pakistan did well against the superior England outfit. However, with business now serious in the World Cup, this fixture is shaping to be a more one-sided contest.
Monday in Nottingham is looking mostly cloudy, with a very small chance of any rain. A cool 18 degrees is expected.
Prediction
Pakistan should be fired up after their shocking opening game against the West Indies. Fans will be hoping England bat first though, otherwise, this one might be over early.
England to win.

If one of NZ, India or WI can topple England, Australia can finish the job and end their tournament

Pakistan again proved why they are dangerously unpredictable side.Tomorrow they can lose to Bangladesh and Afghanistan. We always knew with the way England have been playing ODI cricket, if they are playing 10 matches they will only lose 2 matches. If I am an English fan, I will be happy one of those loses came in group stages. And not in semis or finals..

Two games in a row we have been treated to World Cup upsets, tournament favourites England have lost by 14 runs to Pakistan on Sunday in Nottingham. At Trent Bridge, a ground where many high scores have been tallied in recent years, Pakistan set England a record World Cup run chase after a really solid performance with the bat. A huge turnaround from their first batting performance against the West Indies, Pakistan had five good contributors with the bat. Mohammad Hafeez was the pick of the batsmen with 84 (off 62 balls), while Babar Azam (63 runs) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (54 runs) also made half-centuries. It was a poor morning in the field by England, they dropped some simples catches and just weren't clean with the ball as they were the other day against South Africa. Chris Woakes was the best of the English bowlers, with three wickets and four catches (including one off his own bowling). Moeen Ali also took three wickets. In the chase, England had solid contributions of 107 (off 104 balls) by Joe Root and a 75-ball century from Jos Buttler, though neither were able to stay in and get their side across the line. Moeen Ali failed to get in and find his groove with the bat, England's low-order batting unable to pull through when their side needed it. Wahab Riaz was the hero for Pakistan, taking two death wickets and a catch as well. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Amir also took two wickets each, from their ten overs with the ball. Next up England face Bangladesh on Saturday, a team pumped after their win over South Africa. Pakistan have Sri Lanka on Friday, in Bristol. PAK 8/348 ENG 9/334

Big blow for England that, a World Cup record run chase was set for them following a poor morning in the field. Root and Buttler scored centuries, but got out shortly after, unable to get their country across the line. Pakistan were the better side today with a much improved performance following their embarrassing loss to the West Indies. What a response, they just went out there and performed today. Unpredictable side for sure.
