The Hobart Hurricanes are looking to stay undefeated as they host the Sydney Sixers at Blundstone Arena tonight. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, from 7:15pm (AEDT).

The in-form team of the competition has continued on its merry way, with Hobart winning all of their first four games. No other team has lost fewer than two games, making this early-season performance even more impressive.

It has come on the back of an elite opening duo, with D’Arcy Short and Matthew Wade in excellent form. Both are hitting the ball cleanly and putting the Hurricanes in great positions after ten overs, which is something lacking elsewhere in the BBL.

Hobart’s start to the season is even more important when you take into account the potential absence of D’Arcy Short and maybe even Ben McDermott in the near future. With a set of international limited-overs squads set to be announced in the coming week, both will be at least considered for ODIs and T20Is, which would make them unavailable for Hobart.

Their opposition tonight have found themselves in some decent form as well, despite being one of the poorer sides on paper this season.

Sitting third on the table, the Sixers’ successes have largely come on the back of the great form of Jordan Silk and the crafty bowling of Steve O’Keefe.

Continued issues at the top of the order and inconsistency in the bowling attack makes the Sixers a strange team to follow.

There wasn’t much expectation pre-season that they’d do well, and the fact they’re winning on the back of certain players means the rest of the team is going solidly enough to get the points.

It makes this contest intriguing, given Hobart’s bowling hasn’t been at its best.

Prediction
Both teams are unlikely to feature many changes heading into this contest, in what will be perfect conditions in Hobart.

Hobart should see this as a real opportunity to have a big win before needing to worry about potential absences in the next couple of rounds, which is important in the longer BBL season.

Expect an easy victory for the people in purple, despite the Sixers’ solid form.

Hobart Hurricanes to win.

Hobart Hurricanes def Sydney Sixers by five wickets The Hurricanes made it five wins from five matches, picking up a five-wicket win with just one ball remaining in an entertaining contest on Friday evening. Daniel Hughes was the star batsman for the Sixers, finishing with 61 runs off 40 deliveries, while Moises Henriques provided a good helping hand with 31 off 24 deliveries. The Sixers looked like getting 190+ on a pitch that required it, but two quick wickets in the middle order limited their ability. Johan Botha finished with 3/22 and was clearly the best bowler for the Hurricanes. The veteran hasn't had the best of seasons, but this performance made up for his poor form. Hobart made this game a lot tougher than it needed to be, with a heavy reliance on D'Arcy Short, who fell soon after a blow to the foot by a yorker. The opener, who was unlucky to miss out on Australia's ODI squad, finished with 64 off 42 deliveries, continuing his consistent start to the BL season. His dismissal brought George Bailey to the crease, who produced a match-winning 30 off 17 deliveries to help get Hobart over the line. The Sixers face a tough run over the next couple of games, and their reliance on a couple of players may see them slide considerably. Hobart's Short and McDermott missing out on international selection will assist them considerably in the near future and could keep their undefeated streak running for a while to come.

Sixers just choked and could not put the hurricanes away. Poor form and no chance if they make it to the finals

Sixers are a joke. Deadset pathetic. Hope they miss the finals. Just utter crap. Choking supreme. Abbott, you have just cost your team 12 runs off 2 ball. Congratulations

Hobart Hurricanes 4/157 (19) - ONE Milenko soaks up a couple of dot balls before hitting a single to retain the strike. The Hurricanes need five off the final over to win the match, to be bowled by Ben Dwarshuis aka Jack Crisp's look-a-like.

Hobart Hurricanes 3/131 (16) - FOUR 15 runs off the last four balls of Denly's over has put Hobart in a stronger position. Strange to give the part-time spinner that over, now SOK has to keep it really tight.
