India and Australia meet in the fifth and final One Day International in Delhi. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7pm (AEDT).
With the series tied at 2-2, this match will decide the winner of what has so far been an interesting, exciting and competitive sequence of matches.
After taking an early 2-0 lead when the Australians failed to grasp opportunities in Games 1 and 2, India faltered in the next two encounters.
After falling away in a disappointing run chase in Ranchi, the home side set the visitors a monstrous 359 to win in Mohali, only to see Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb and Ashton Turner steer to Aussies to an unlikely victory.
Rohit Sharma and Sikhar Dhawan had opened the Indian innings with a brilliant partnership, before it looked likely that the Indians would take a 3-1 series lead heading into Delhi.
As it was, the Australians displayed great courage and poise under pressure after losing two early wickets and Turner’s stroke play towards the end of the innings helped the men in yellow get home reasonably comfortably in the end.
The final match in the series will undoubtedly produce another belter of a pitch for the batsmen to enjoy, and whilst one day cricket on the sub-continent is renowned for big scores, flat pitches and batting exhibitions, it will once again be the team that bowls well and is able to pull back early momentum through the middle part of the innings that will most likely prevail and claim the series.
Prediction
The Indian batting has looked formidable at times yet after big runs have been made at the top of the order, the Australians have been able to put pressure on numbers 5,6 and 7 and slow the rate as the innings progresses.
In saying that, the Aussies have been a little reactionary in this series, scrapping their way like street fighters to stay with the home side.
The Indians look a more rounded side from 1 to 11. The dangers of Kuldeep Yadav, MS Dhoni, Rohit and Dhawan are considerable and if captain Virat Kohli fires in what has not been his most consistent series, then the Australians may have trouble in finding a third victory.
The toss could be vital and big runs from the Indians to start the match may very well be the deciding factor should it occur.
India to win.

That bit I can agree on. There's still some untapped potential in there.

We must be! I'm happy to agree to disagree. His biggest issue appears to be between the ears.

We must be watching two different batsmen then, Stuart! I’ve watched him play a bit of red ball cricket and he has a pretty neat technique. Head still, plays the ball late, no extravagant movements. He can get a little squared up occasionally and bring the bat down at an angle but that’s about it. Not perfect, yet far from poor.

Even if you’re right, that’s nothing to do with technique.

Very well done the Australian team in both bowling and fielding! A magnificent team effort and well deserved. Bowling and fielding excellent class and batting above India. Congratulations!

Australia has defeated India by 35 runs in Delhi to wrap up victory in the five match match One Day International series by three matches to two.
Aaron Finch decided that the best course to take for victory was to bat first and post a total after winning the toss, on what looked a dry, flat and relatively slow pitch. Usman Khawaja and Finch started well, scoring quickly through the first ten overs.
It was to be Khawaja’s day, as he racked up his third big score of the series before being dismissed for 100 when he chipped to Virat Kohli at cover. However, the Australian’s were their own worst enemy through the middle order as batsmen fell to poor shots and bad decisions.
With ten overs remaining, it appeared something near 250 would be a stretch for the Aussies yet a late flourish from Jhye Richardson and Patrick Cummins saw the visitors eventually post 272. It set the Indians a difficult chase on a deteriorating pitch.
The Indian run chase started well before Sikhar Dhawan fell and the home side could not stem the flow of dismissals. Kohli fell cheaply and only Rohit Sharma appeared likely to stay at the crease and provide a winning hope for India.
He too fell and if not for a late counter punch from the tail, the Indians may well have fallen even further short of the Australian’s total. Cummins, Richardson and leg-spinner Adam Zampa were superb with the ball; keeping the Indians under immense pressure throughout their innings.
After trailing 2-0 in the series, the 3-2 win says a lot about the character in the Australian team. A team that will be even stronger in the World Cup when Steve Smith and David Warner return to the batting line up.
Final result
Australia defeated India by 35 runs.

Beating India in India is a great achievement, particularly after 0-2 down. Australia's World Cup preparation is well underway.

Wow wow wow! Yes yes yes! Going 2 nil down Vs India in India and coming back to win 3 matches in a row is phenomenal achievement. Thank you Australia! Usman khawaja fell short of 9 runs from scoring back to back three hundreds and all three scores came in matches they won. This series should thrill and satisfy Aussies moreso after what happened to Australia at home against the same side. A spare of thought for camouflage caps. Since when did India stop winning matches? Not so innocent head gears from humanitarian point of view..sorry guys for going off topic a little..
