Australia take on New Zealand in the fifth and deciding match of their cross-Tasman T20 series at Sky Stadium in Wellington. Join The Roar for live scores from 10:00am (AEDT).

The tourists have fought back from a 2-0 deficit to force a decider, winning the last two games since the series moved behind closed doors to the spin-friendly drop-in track at the Cake Tin.

Skipper Aaron Finch has been key to the turnaround, reversing a horror run of form with 69 in the third game then a result-defining 79 not out in the fourth.

The Australian spinners have also been pivotal, with Ashton Agar, Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell combining for 13 wickets to spin their side to victory in the past two matches.

Despite missing their Test stars, this youthful Australian squad can take plenty of positives from this fightback in New Zealand as they continue their build-up to the T20 World Cup in India this October.

A series win would provide a boost to those preparations if the Aussies can claim victory in today’s decider.

Isa did have a mild shot at him for his 'confidence', which surprised me. I thought she'd look favourably on someone close to her own height... Anyway, here are some more interesting Agar v Zampa stats. The two have played 20 T20s together and here are their bowling stats for those games. Overs Mdns Runs Wkts Ave Econ SR AGAR 70 0 458 28 16.35 6.54 15.0 ZAMPA 67.5 0 529 19 27.84 7.79 21.4 Add in Agar's far superior batting and fielding and it makes you wonder why Zampa is the automatic first choice.

Yesterday he chewed up too many balls and kept Wade (the set batsman) off strike. Go look at what happened in England last year, in the first T20 Stoinis comes out to bat with Australia requiring 36 from from 30 balls. Stoinis makes 23 off 18 and Australia lose by 2 runs.

NZ are already ranked higher than us in both Test and ODI while now they are likely to leap frog us in T20. They are also higher ranked in Rugby League a code that is barley niche across the ditch, while we all know they are a Union super power. An analogy would be that one of our Federated States was stronger across all codes v any national Australian team given the population disparity. NZ just defeated us in Net Ball as well. I reckon they are a far greater sporting nation pound for pound than we believe we are.

We are talking T20is Mrrex, bringing up Stonis' ODI record is sort of irrelevant, only so much Stonis can do when your opener, 4/6/7 fail completely. He isnt to blame here.

Stoinis has had 1 decent knock for Australia in about 3 years, he completely killed all the momentum we had yesterday by keeping Wade off strike. We saw how Stoinis did in the World Cup in 2019,failed to rotate the strike and wasted too many ball. They had multiple opportunities to replace him, but they didn't. I think its time to move on from him. Marsh had a good knock in the first game batting 4, then spends most of the series batting 7, Moises and Christian are good middle order options as well.

The 9 WA players are not allowed back into WA for two weeks upon arrival in Sydney because they have been in NZ (WA and QLD are closed to all of NZ, not just Auckland). Same issue for the QLD players presumably.

It was if they could only get the charter flight for a Sunday and not a Monday, the earlier departure on Sunday allowing Australian squad members to catch the last connecting flights of the day back to their various states.

I don't think he was on. But criticism of AZ was *very* sparse as the comms was chocker with loyal Blues: MEW (4 games), Pat Cummins (2), Warner (1) and even Brad Haddin got a gig. Nope, no bias at Fox...

Craig McDermott? Jeez thought he'd be past it by now :stoked:

@Churotah. I love the passion mate. I never decry an Aussie or a Kiwi standing up for their team....it is what the TransTasman rivalry is all about. Mind you, I don't think any true cricket fan - certainly not me - takes T20 too seriously.
