Australia resumes its first innings at 8 for 313 against Sri Lanka with a lead of 101 runs on Day 3. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary at the earlier time of 2:15pm AEST.
Australia proved this pitch is no minefield….yet, with some batting cameos throughout the order.
After Usman Khawaja was out for 71, Cameron Green picked up where he left off and showed just how handy he is.
Green scored 77 of 109 balls and was well supported by Alex Carey (45) who put on what could be a match winning partnership of 84.
The pitch is tricky but the aggressive game style of Australia has messed with Sri Lanka’s rhythm and they’ve never been able to settle in for a few maiden overs.
Captain Pat Cummins is looking extremely dangerous after whacking a couple of huge sixes and Sri Lanka will need to dismiss him early and wrap up the innings to have a chance of staying in this game.
A lead of 101 runs is already plenty on a wicket that will continue to deteriorate.
Sri Lanka do have the advantage of bowling last so they’ll know that even setting a small total on the fourth innings could cause some problems but there’s a long way to go before they even make Australia bat again.
Join us for a slightly early start to Day 3 which is due to all the overs we lost yesterday.

Hemp oil is a hair growth stimulant among other wonderful properties! A few in our team need it some are as bald as an eagle!

With the India tour in Feb/March, hopefully we get a good run of Tests from November onwards.

Starc is a luxury that's hard to justify at times. Def shouldn't be playing in the next SL test

Killing me we have to wait until November after this . not much true test followers can do about it although england seem to play so many more than Aus

Lyon excellent but head matched him for four wickets second innings which says alot and swepson pretty great too. hardest task was batting on that deck and greens innings was the biggest impact on match at a critical time so he rightfully got it and glad they actually then gave it to him . spinners deck not a batting deck so greens 77 was more like 150 given the context of the match conditions and deck

he plays next test but if he stuffs up for another few tests in India he’s got to be dropped . his tour form highly questionable could he be another flat track bully like warner ? have to give him some more oops though first . maxi to come in for starc in this particular test coming up unless the wicket is really different a day out

I've been all day to Brisbane, my not for long brother, and got back to this news ------- When was the last 18 wickets fell to spinners?

I’d say Head needs to be taken aside by Chappelli and told how to play “early n straight or late n square”. He has the capability but there is a belief issue.
