By The Roar / Editor

The Aussie great isn’t impressed with the selector’s plan to recuse himself from any moves to drop Paine from the Test team.

Spot on Afghanistan! Bailey took the role as selector knowing that Paine was the captain and he would have to make selection decisions about him. A selection decision arises and Bailey removes himself from the process. It is a bad precedent. A person was chosen to do a task, and stated, sometime after taking on that task, that he will not carry it out in a particular situation.

Bailey was a good teammate essential to an ashes win. But this is above his expertise

I agree with Waugh. Bailey is not up to the demands of the job. He's to busy being everyones best mate. The only time he should be in the media is announcing the team. Unfortunately he wants to be popular which suits his business interests.

It's a joke for Bailey to say he'll leave it up to the other two. If Dodemaide votes to drop him there's no way Langer will - Langer flatly refuses to drop players.

Well said Mark Jnr Waugh!! This is the fundamental issue with picking blokes who are good pals and chums with current players. Bailey is a nice guy but he wants to be everyones best mate and as a selector this is fraught with danger. The XI will be picked on friendsips no playing ability. So it will depend on which keeper besides Paine is the most chummy with Bailey. Same deal for uzzy and Head. Get on with the job of picking the new skipper and the XI. Gel the team. get on with it!

On a slight tangent, the Barmy Army are getting ready to go all out. I just read on another site, one of the first songs they’ve written will be sung to the tune of “My old man’s a dustman”: Tim Paine was your captain He had a mobile phone Advice came in from Warnie Send a picture of your bone
