Joe Denly somehow drops the undroppable

By The Roar / Editor

Any chance England had of pulling off a fifth day miracle against New Zealand in the Second Test went down with this absolute shocker by Joe Denly.

With New Zealand on 2 for 154 and a lead of 53, Kane Williamson was undone by a Jofra Archer slower ball. He went through his shot way to early and spooned what appeared to be the most simple of chances to Denly and mid wicket.

Somehow Denly made a hash of it and even Archer had to laugh at how ridiculous the situation was.

I've given up coaching now but I once had a team of under 10's (who were mostly 8yo or younger). They would all have taken that catch. Denly should be dropped to set an example of the standard required at international level.

Dunno about you but i feel absolutely no sympathy for Archer at all.

You have to feel for Archer. He's taken 2 wickets all series, gone for over 200 runs, has little to be happy about then has this happen to him. I'm not sure I'd like to be Denly, facing up the next time Archer bowls to him.

Even Williamson looked embarrassed.

It must be tough being an English bowler. I'm pretty sure during the last Ashes one of the commentators mentioned something being the 100th dropped catch of Broad in test cricket. Don't know where they find a stat like that from, but England are notoriously bad at catching. But even so, that has to be the most absolute dolly of a catch I've ever seen in my life. If you were trying to hit the easiest catch possible, that would basically be it.
