The Canterbury Bulldogs are playing for pride, while the Wests Tigers are playing to keep their slim top-eight chances alive in their clash this afternoon. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 1:50pm (AEST).
Both teams are having a season they would like to quickly forget. The Bulldogs are trying to avoid the wooden spoon and will be doing all they can to finish the year on a positive.
The Tigers, on the other hand, are four points out of the top eight and are desperate for the win to help claw their way back into finals contention.
The Tigers have won their past two meeting with the Bulldogs and will be wanting to continue that trend today.
Quite a few changes have been made for both sides since last round.
Trent Barrett has dropped Kyle Flanagan out of the top 17 once again. Jake Averillo moves to half-back and Bailey Biondi-Odo has been called in at five-eighth.
Dylan Napa is on the bench, with Ava Seumanufagi returning to the front row after being out of the side while suffering from a head knock.
Michael Maguire has named Moses Mbye at fullback for Daine Laurie who fractured his leg last week against the Warriors. Michael Chee Kam has been called in to fill Mbye’s place in the centres.
James Tamou has been named in the side after missing last week’s game with an injured foot, and Zac Cini has earned a spot on the bench.
The position the Bulldogs find themselves on the ladder does not reflect the level of effort that they have shown this season. Each week, they turn up and try for the whole 80 minutes. I don’t see today being any different.
With rumours getting louder about Maguire’s coaching future, he will be wanting his team to play the way he knows they can.
The Tigers have been their own worst enemy out on the field, but they have so much to play for today. They have a finals series to make, critics they want to silence and their beloved coach’s job they want to save. This is what will carry them through to victory today.
What do you think, Roarers? Who will come out on top this afternoon?

Well, not a very exciting game. Clunky, messy and a lot of errors. Both teams did try hard but lacked alot of polish and direction. At the end of the day the Tigers earn a very valuable 2 points and the Bulldogs go closer to securing the wooden spoon. Thanks for your company this afternoon Roarers, stay safe and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sheesh, Hetherington does a lot of stupid stuff but so many worse tackles see other players still on the field. Harsh indeed.

Now Woods looks a much better option than either of the current Dogs props.

75′ Hetherington caught offside. Tigers point to the sticks. Hetherington’s reputation sees him go for a very soft sin bin for an earlier tackle on Twal.
