The Gold Coast Titans and Manly Sea Eagles face off at Cbus Super Stadium in Round 15 NRL action. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 3pm (AEST).
2019 has not lived up to the hopes and expectations of the Titans thus far. After just four wins they sit 15th on the ladder, with semi-final play well and truly out of the question.
Contrastingly, the Sea Eagles have been better than many expected and are entrenched in the eight with just ten matches remaining in the season.
Should Des Hasler’s men manage to win six of those, they will play final’s football and the achievement will be commendable considering the youth in the squad and the turnover of players from last season.
Off consecutive wins against the Cowboys and the Dragons, the Sea Eagles will be looking to join the Raiders on 16 competition points with a win today. With a bye to follow in Round 16, such a result could see their position in the eight solidified even further before their Round 17 clash with the wounded Rabbitohs.
The Titans have won two of their last four and lost narrowly to the Warriors in Round 14 after dishing up some humble state pie to the Broncos a week earlier. Tyrone Peachey is a big out for the home side yet Kevin Proctor returns to the starting line-up after recovering from the fractured eye socket he suffered against the Broncos.
The Sea Eagles’ State of Origin stars are all fit and selected. The Trbojevic brothers and Daly Cherry-Evans will all need to be near their best if they are to topple a Titans side that is a more difficult proposition on their home deck.
Prediction
If the Sea Eagles are to continue their march to the finals, this is a match they would expect to win. I not only see a comfortable victory for them, but also feel they may put on a cricket score, against a Titans team with little to play for over the remainder of the season except pride.

Stuart, short answer is I’ll be happy if they get to play a game in the finals this year. They’re certainly not a top four side in this comp.

Des seems short of breath in most pressers. I thought he would be one of the fitter coaches.

Manly did more than enough today and can only play what is in front of them. Good effort even though they were barely out of second gear. I hope both sides are at full strength when they meet again in 2 weeks. It will be a cracker! Souths need a cattle prod up their nether regions though to get them to snap out of their stupor.

Yep, Titans awful today, but Manly should have put on 50. I’m looking forward to the game between Souths and Manly. Souths should, should, be formidable. I think they’ll be in good form. If both sides are fit, it should be a pearler.

You must be concussed. It was a joke, a pun, a play on words mate! Seriously?

They played well despite facing a pretty poor Titans team.

The Sea Eagles have defeated the Titans 30-12 on the Gold Coast to confirm their deserved place in the top eight. It was one way traffic at Cbus Super Stadium this afternoon. Des Hasler's men put the hapless Titans to the sword and continued to add substance to their credentials as a serious semi-final contender. An early penalty goal to Tyrone Roberts was completely misleading as the Sea Eagles proceeded to rack up five unanswered tries between the 8th and 53rd minutes to establish a 28-2 lead that reflected the general pattern of the game to a tee. In the midst of that dominance, Curtis Sironen had spent ten minutes in the sin bin after scoring the opening two tries of the match. It was a wonderful way to celebrate his 100th first grade game. Phillip Sami scored two late tries for the home side to add some respectability to the score line, yet Des Hasler will be a little miffed that his charges didn't put the Titans to the sword more convincingly in the second half. The final quarter of the match became a little scrappy and neither side would enjoy reviewing the footage. Manly will be more focused on the excellent attacking structures they showed in the first half and the Titans will learn much from the frail defence that allowed the Sea Eagles to set up such an unassailable lead so early in the second stanza. More and more people are starting to believe in the Sea Eagles and a growing number are becoming convinced that the Gold Coast is indeed the Bermuda Triangle for professional sporting teams in Australia. Good on Manly, they got the chocolate’s but they were lucky they were only playing the Titans today, fell away in 2nd half

A VERY convincing win by Manly. It is hard to get a real handle on just how well they are travelling ATM playing a Canterbury Cup quality side today. The real test will come when they face a hopefully full strength Rabbitohs side after the bye next week.

Manly looking pretty good and solidifying their top 8 position. Good backup from the Origin players. Des has got this side primed this year but the way Tom T has gone to another level this year is a big reason for their success.

It’s been Ash Taylor’s play for 2 years. I always wondered if it was due to Taylor/ Proctor or Brennan.
