The St George Illawarra Dragons will put their NRLW season on the line in a must-win game when the competition has its first-ever stand-alone game in Auckland as they take on the New Zealand Warriors. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 1:15pm (AEST).

Following the Broncos victory over the Roosters yesterday, as well as the Warriors shock victory over the Roosters last weekend, a win for the Auckland-based club here will seal a Brisbane-New Zealand grand final.

Should the Dragons manage to come away with the win, they would join the Warriors on a one and one record, meaning both sides would be in the hunt next week, and it could well come down to for and against.

The Sydney Roosters will also be cheering on the Dragons here, hoping for a similar scenario to last year where three sides finished with a single victory, although their for and against took a beating yesterday.

The Warriors were surprisingly good last week in their upset victory over the Sydney Roosters, coming away with a victory on the road despite being the far less fancied of the two sides.

Their forward pack held their own, and more importantly, were able to play for the entire 80 minutes, while the role Krystal Rota, Apii Nicholls and Georgia Hale played was outstanding.

It was the kicking game of Charntay Poko though, on debut in the competition, which stood out as the key performance of the game, and she will need to be good again, putting a dangerous Dragons back three under the pump.

While the Dragons fell to the Broncos, they didn’t feel too far away from getting it right, with combinations between Botille Vette-Walsh, Kimiora Nati, Maddie Studdon and Brittany Breayley just not quite clicking.

If they can get it right on the back of a strong forward pack though, they are going to be hard to beat, although the suspension of Maitua Feterika won’t help their cause this weekend in trying to deal with the Warriors starting prop rotation of Annetta Nuuausala and Aieshaleigh Smalley, who were superb last week.

Prediction
The Dragons have a lot of class through their side, and while the trip to Auckland won’t be an easy one, they should have what it takes to get the job done.

Dragons by 4.

FULLTIME The St George Illawarra Dragons have ran on 26 unanswered points in the final 27 minutes of their NRLW clash to put on an impressive victory over the New Zealand Warriors in the first-ever stand-alone game at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland. The Warriors had the better of the first half on the back of Charntay Poko's kicking game, but a 6-0 scoreline at the break left both sides in the game. Despite some mistakes early in the second half, the Dragons, on the back of their forwards - led by Maitua Feterika and Kezzie Apps, put the Warriors to the sword. Maddie Studdon took over the game as the points ran up down the stretch, and two tries in the final five minutes of the contest will give the Red V a nice for and against advantage ahead of next week's crucial final round where all four teams can still sneak into the grand final on the first Sunday in October. St George Illawarra will take on the Sydney Roosters next Sunday, while the Warriors play the Brisbane Broncos on Saturday. Should the Broncos win that game, then the Dragons will only need to win to meet Brisbane in the decider. If the Warriors win however, the Dragons will need to keep their for and against ahead of the Warriors as well. The only way for the Warriors to make the final now will be for Brisbane to win, and the Roosters to record a big win over the Dragons at Leichhardt. Warriors 6 Dragons 26

60' - TRY DRAGONS, BOTILLE VETTE-WALSH Try time. That's too easy and the Warriors defence have fallen apart under fatigue here. Vette-Walsh takes it out of her own end, puts a bit of footwork on at the line, beats two and runs 90 metres to score. Warriors 6 Dragons 24

59' - The Warriors looking for an important consolation try as they try to get some for and against back. Up the middle through Nuuausala, then it's Paul in with a run. Nice grubber from Poko, but Vette-Walsh comes up with it. Warriors 6 Dragons 20

The pre-season predictions were all for a Brisbane-Dragons grand final. Wouldn't surprise me if those two sides win next week and that's exactly what we get.

Dragons look, by far, the best drilled, experienced team. This is reminiscent of the ladies SOO, when NSW did the same to Qld.

57' - CONVERSION MISSED by SHAKIAH TUNGAI The Dragons can't settle on a goal kicker. But this has been a much better performance from the Red V. Stayed patient, waited for the Warriors to fatigue and then went for it. Going to be an intriguing final week of the regular season in seven days time, with all four teams still in contention. 56' - TRY DRAGONS, JESSICA SERGIS Breayley taps and and goes for the Dragons, then Feterika, who has been huge in this second half, comes back into the middle. They step their way down the left now and Vette-Walsh finds Horne who is tackled. A settling play back to the middle for Fasavalu-Faamausili, befoe Davis is taken on the right. They go sharply from dummy half, running it on the last, and it's a lovely short ball to Sergis who crashes over for the try. Beautiful from Sergis. Warriors 6 Dragons 20

55' - Well, it looks like the Dragons have got this in the bag now, but for and against starts to become a big thing, so another try either way could be big here. Great work from the Red V as well. Penalty for Horne just over halfway. Warriors 6 Dragons 16
