It never easy for away teams at McDonald Jones Stadium, but Manly Warringah will be desperate to avoid three straight losses and risk sliding further away from the eight this afternoon.
The Newcastle Knights have endured their own flat spot in form but roared back to life last Saturday night with a 44-4 thrashing of a disappointing Tigers outfit.
Kalyn Ponga was back to his destructive best whilst Blake Green, in his first game for the club, took some of the pressure off Mitchell Pearce and contributed to the victory.
Daniel Saifiti returns to the Knights line up after overcoming a knee injury, with Jacob Saifiti starting from the bench. Star To’a, after having his COVID hold lifted, starts on the wing.
Des Hasler must have cracked a mirror. The injury-hit Sea Eagles lost 26-22 at Lottoland last round to the Warriors, with the scoreline flattering the Sea Eagles. With Tom Trbojevic still a few weeks away, the Sea Eagles’ season is in danger of slipping away before he returns.
To be fair to Manly, losing your starting props during the game doesn’t help, and the effort is there, even if the polish is not.
Manly do get some big ins, with Joel Thompson and Curtis Sironen both named to play. Brad Parker returns after a head knock, replacing Tevita Funa, whilst Marty Taupua is also expected to start after failing an HIA against the Warriors. Taniela Paseka will start in place of Addin Fonua-Blake after he succumbed to injury last weekend.
Prediction
The Sea Eagles will be brave but the Knights returned to something like their best last weekend.
Adam O’Brien will be keen to see them produce the same again.

Keppie and Paseka were exceptonal doubled their market value with that ability confirmation.. but it was clearly a Hasler game plan to wear the referee down and it worked.

Well, no because they gave away 3 penalties. And home teams usually get the better of the calls. But if you're busted breaking rules, claiming that you aren't getting a fair deal and there are other rule breakers is never a winning defence.
