Round 9 of the NRL Premiership continues tonight when the Penrith Panthers take on the Parramatta Eels at BlueBet Stadium in Penrith. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.55pm AEST.

For these two teams from western Sydney, the juggernaut rolls on for one whilst the wheels appear to be falling off for the other. However, the local derby brings out the best in both teams and we can expect a much improved Eels team this week.

Whilst Penrith seems to go on winning streaks at will, their away form is a bit scratchy at the moment. The 18-4 win over the Titans last round came after an error riddled first half. In bad news for Parramatta, the Panthers return home tonight.

Even with the Panthers below their best, Nathan Cleary’s kicking game and the running metres of their back 3 made Penrith a very hard nut to crack.

Ivan Cleary has named the same side that beat the Titans last week however Brian To’o and Moses Leota have both been named in the reserves. Either or both could make a surprise return this week.

For Parramatta, the experiment with Jake Arthur is over and Dylan Brown returns to the 6 jersey tonight. Whilst the selection of Arthur was controversial, he alone was not responsible for the 35-4 drubbing by the Cowboys.

On paper, the Eels have one of the best forward packs in the competition. They need to start playing like it and what better test is there than taking on the premiers.

With Brown moving back to 5/8th, Tom Opacic comes in at centre and Arthur moves back to the reserves.

Prediction

I do give the Eels some hope tonight of what would be a major upset.

The Eels do look a better team with Dylan Brown in the halves and the Parramatta pack will be up for the battle.

However, Penrith are shooting for 22 straight wins at their home ground and it’s hard to tip against that type of trend

‘Ouch Ouch’ gee that hurts jenny  so now we are having a go about ref calls and bunker calls? Listen here, I’m Souths biggest critic and don’t make any excuses when there are none to be made as they are a very ordinary side this year, so just ‘remember that as that time will come” to all you penny supporter’s!

Just remember, Manly are an entirely different prospect with Turbo as Souths are with Latrell. That is why both our sides are well off par this year with both players missing. That will change when they return mate.

Much longer season for Souths, and forever after that.

Was the slightest of brushes at both ends that none of 21000+ saw at the ground including the ref who awarded the try, only seen at Moore Park, 50kms away, so yes both of those could have been the opposite call. The Mahoney try once awarded (never heard this before ), the Bunker in their determination, gave us the wording "in our opinion Mahoney 'could' have scored " - not for all of history where the judgement is only ever 'would have scored' is used, so.In awarding it, they admitted their own slice of doubt. How's that's ? PS (that's post script), could you please tell me what BM is?

Hey Jenny "could have gone either way" oh you mean like all the penny's are complaining that the ref was crook and that's why youse lost, at lest you are one of the diplomatic ones  just remember 'winners are grinners and the rest can please themselves ' and you're the latter tonight as it's a very long season.

If you can do better than the atomic bomb I dropped on the Bunnies in the "Are the Rabbitohs going to make the eight?" story or at the end of the Live call I would love to see it, mighty. Don't shy away. We go way back mate. So you have a lot more leeway than others. :stoked:

Gladly!! I was just looking out for my local team and the team I followed during the two-year period of Souths Politis forced exile. It's too late now but I'll call Rusty first thing in the morning to suggest it. If I called him now he'd probably throw a phone at my head and I'd end up in Bondi Junction with the Roosters!

I wonder if the Cowboys can keep going? They do have a lot of weapons in attack. If they can keep going, I know Parramatta would do anything to miss playing them in a finals game. Especially in the tropics.

I watched Parramatta get trampled in NSW Cup. Any centre that’s any good in that grade at Parramatta?

Fair call, how about I start with a rundown of that excuse for a game last night by the Bunnies. Just kidding. I'm back now
