Round 17 of the NRL premiership continues this afternoon when the South Sydney Rabbitohs take on the North Queensland Cowboys at Accor Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:05pm (AEST).
Souths star Latrell Mitchell will not return from his ongoing calf injury while Cody Walker (thigh) was cleared for Origin selection so he will be able to suit up for Souths after failing to get the call-up.
Tom Burgess returns after several weeks out with a back injury while fellow prop Davvy Moale (knee) is also back after nearly two months out.
With Valentine Holmes, Murray Taulagi, Reuben Cotter and Jeremiah Nanai as well as Blues debutant Reece Robson being on Origin duty, it’s been a nervous week for Todd Payten but they all appeared to get through the game without injury.
Talented second-rower Heilum Luki will miss “multiple weeks” with the facial fracture he suffered in Friday’s defeat of Penrith. The fracture is the latest setback for Luki, who went down with an ACL injury last year, only to spend more time sidelined with a hamstring strain suffered three weeks after returning to the field.
Souths are banged up due to injuries while the Cowboys have several players backing up from Origin duties. Rabbitohs hooker Damien Cook will be much happier back at hooker after having to play 77 minutes at centre for NSW on Wednesday night. Rabbitohs by 6

Looking good Jimmmy... Luki and JT to come back, things looking up. Nanai and Luciana getting fit and hitting form and pressure from some youngsters! Perfect situation heading into the pointy end.

A good fit for some other team, maybe, but not right for your Cowboys. Have a good week, Mate.

Well done Cowboys - you were the far better team today. Thanks All, for your comments & banter. It's helped make a cold, wet, dismal Melbourne afternoon, relatively, pleasant.

Congrats Jimmy, RN & NQL and the Cows gang. Well played. For the Rabbits, need some soul searching and to win more than the obvious in the next 5 weeks.

Kyle Feldt nearly single handedly blew up the world internet against the Tigers last year .
