The inconsistent Cronulla Sharks will be looking to find some more reliable form in the lead-up to the finals but that won’t be easy against the Sydney Roosters. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:35pm (AEST).
The Sharks haven’t won consecutive games since July, with John Morris’ men going win, loss, win, loss over the last seven rounds. Having notched a victory last week to seal their place in the finals, not many will be tipping against that trend continuing against the Roosters.
The two-time defending premiers are odds-on to take an incredible third grand final victory in as many years, and Trent Robinson clearly already has an eye on the finals. He’s rested star fullback James Tedesco and barnstorming prop Siosiua Taukeiaho, and skipper Boyd Cordner is also taking a week off after suffering a heavy head knock last week.
Kick-off: 7:35pm (AEST)

I think it was a pretty reasonable game which showed the depth of the Roosters club. When you consider the line up sitting on the bench it was pretty impressive in itself. Robbo mentioned "defensive lapses" because he figures they will be up against the Storm in 2 weeks and attack wise they were red hot yesterday but it was hard to gauge agaist a team that has not defended well for the majority of the season. At least the Roosters had a have these 2 games against top 8 teams before the finals and what they do with Soufs next week end should be a pretty fair indicator as to their state of mind.I suggest full team line up ready to go for that one. The Sharks were gritty and my sympathy to Johnson terrible injury to get. Love to watch him play in full flight running the ball.

The issue for me is that I didn’t see any particularly objectionable calls when it came to penalties or 6 agains but saw plenty of plays from both teams that “could” have been called for 6 again. 9-1 is just absurd, but didn’t really effect the game, especially as there was 3 in like 5 plays at one point. We play the game pretty close to the line, as most top teams do, but it just seems like the clasification of exactly what a “6 again” call means is pretty vague. Having said that, I do like the rule generally and I’m glad we came away with another big win. 3 in a row, here we go!

Don't worry mate, we got plenty of practice defending our line. It was a 9-1 six again against us, although it felt like 20 to 1. Penalties were also 5 to 2 against us.

Rooster, cowboys, broncos felt ahead of the pack during the cows win

If they were in the 4. Just bloody hard to win 4 consecutive finals games vs the 3 for the top 4

It was the first thing I thought when he went down. Achilles. It's crap because it can be a 10-12 month injury

He used to be a bit of a fatty in his early career apparently

That's a shocker Rene. He has been so good lately , really found his feet. Still anything can and does happen in finals.

Yeah agree, was a good game - got a taste of finals intensity in the second half. SJ injury is devastating though! Ahh, the sharks will fight but I can’t see them competing without him from here on.

Sharks played well overall. A few lapses in both attack and defence, but a solid performance and would have beaten a lot of teams today. The Roosters, however, are looking seriously ominous. Bit concerned that they have made the last few games look like training runs and they won’t be ready for a serious test against Melbourne or Penrith, but confident that they can rely on their big game experience and turn it up when it matters.

Well done Roosters . Thanks for the chat fellas. That was a pretty good game of footy. With Johnson there I think it's a bit closer but Roosters still get home imo.
