A top four Saturday night clash at the SCG headlines round 11 of the 2022 NRL season as premiers Penrith Panthers travel to Moore Park to take on the Sydney Roosters. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.35pm AEST.

After a shaky start to the season which included shock losses to St George and the Bulldogs, the Roosters have slowly clicked into gear following wins against Gold Coast Titans and Parramatta Eels. Now back into the top four, the Roosters will want to stamp their authority and remain there. However, they will miss the services of Victor Radley, with the Roosters star set to miss 6-8 weeks with an ankle injury.

The halves pairing of Sam Walker and Luke Keary is starting to gel and the pair are starting to get the best out of each other. The individual brilliance of James Tedesco and Joseph Manu has gotten the Roosters out of trouble at times this season, but the boys from Bondi will need a collective effort to topple the Panthers.

Penrith have continued their outstanding work from last season as their outstanding defence has seen them rise to the top of the table this year. Conceding an average of 11.6 points a game thus far, the Panthers have shown that they are not easy to break down. The Panthers remain unchanged from their Magic Round victory, although head coach Ivan Cleary will be back in the coaching sheds following a knee infection.

Prediction

Premierships aren’t won in May and this clash will be a learning curve for both teams as the Origin period is set to dawn upon us.

However, the Roosters will need a Herculean effort to defeat a powerful Panthers outfit despite the home ground advantage. Penrith’s only loss this season was when they conceded more than 20 points against Parramatta and I can’t see the Roosters repeating the Eels’ effort.

Penrith by 8.

I never said we deserved to score more points. We were somewhat out of ideas and even with all our possession in the panthers half we couldn’t make it work. But the Panthers scored a soft one before half time and a length of the field try while we were on attack which blew out the score. I literally compared the Panthers to the absolutely dominant 18-19 Roosters team who made good teams looks extremely average sometimes by being absolutely relentless and taking their opportunities. Seems like you’re looking to be annoyed for some reason?

You guys were absolutely out of ideas in attack. Walker, Keary, Tedesco, try as they might, didn't look like making a line break or making an assist. How many points did you honestly deserve to score ?

After Rnd 9, Storm had a 77 points better +/- than Penrith and 123 better +/- than the Cowboys. Rnd 11 and Penrith are 25 points +/- clear of the Storm (a 102-point turnaround) and Cowboys are now just 13 +/- shy of the Storm now (a 110-point turnaround).

Feedback? Awesome blog. “Try to be best 'Cause you're only a man And a man's gotta learn to take it Try to believe Though the going gets rough That you gotta hang tough to make it History repeats itself Try and you'll succeed Never doubt that you're the one And you can have your dreams You're the best around Nothing's gonna ever keep you down!” - Albo

I guess this is what it felt like to play against us in the 18-19 seasons. It doesn’t feel like we deserved to lose 32-12 , but at the same time it kind of felt inevitable. This Panthers side has a combination of skill, confidence and team chemistry that puts them a step above any other team at the moment.

Great job Arnab. Your mention about the Panthers being up 6 nil after half time despite not being in the Roosters half was a great pick up. Stick with it mate.

Congrats Albo, Commiserations Roosters, Dutski, Pickett, Birthday suit and the gang. Chooks in for a very tough 5 weeks; Sharks and Raiders at their home; Storm followed by Parra and Penrith in their backyards. That’s 5 games against teams in the top 6. They might be lucky to get a win.

It doesn't matter who plays Penrith Adam they always win with the exception of Parramatta who beat them a few weeks ago (which I might add Roosters beat Parramatta the next week).Chooks haven't played that bad, they were great at the start of the game, and they've just scored again so I'm happy..I wasn't confident going into this game anyway..But hopefully the Chooks have turned the corner from their slump they've had..

Panthers very, very good . The scary thing is the Roosters were top notch as well. Hiku, Nanai and Hammer are going to need to be perfect next week. That left side of theirs is lethal.

FULL TIME Penrith 32 Roosters 12 Another comprehensive win for the Panthers tonight. Roosters started well but struggled to keep up with this rampaging Panthers outfit. Joey Manu was kept quiet today which stifled the Roosters attack. As for Penrith, they continue marching on their goal of back to back premierships.
