Gutherson is in the habit of blowing up over any just about any ruling. It's a great rule which stops players using their foot to stop a try and if they succeed in stopping a try it's an easy choice for the bunker to make. The bunker would have also awarded a try if Gutherson had of illegally prevented a try with his foot , so maybe he needs to check the rules instead of debating. ''What was Moses meant to do? '' asks Gutho. He can do whatever he wants within the rules , it's pretty simple.

my "hero" was Frank Hyde, back in the days when there wasn't a lot of games televised. Loved listening to his calls on the wireless, with all the breaks to the other games being played at the same time. "it's high enough, it's long enough it's.......

Moses certainly put his immediate future at risk going in the way he did. To me as an instinctive reaction, he didn't think he was going to get there so he just threw whatever body part he could out to try and save a try. As a team mate or coach, I would appreciate the desperation, but you are right, he took a big risk because if he miscued slightly and got the guy with a knee or his boot got Meaney's face, he could have been looking at a holiday. Rabs (the commentator) was the guy I wanted to be as a kid. But the highlight of Rabs night last night was being a smart A.. toward Andrew Johns because Johns got something right (implying it doesn't usually happen), and then Warren himself promptly getting the teams mixed up in his very next sentence....

BA, my only concern with the actions of Moses was the knee. At full speed first time I saw it, I thought be kneed the Canterbury guy in the ribs/stomach and my first thought was "report", because that has to be dangerous play. Fair enough it was only foot hitting ball, but I worry guys in the future might not be so lucky, with players sliding feet first, at speed, to attempt to prevent a try. As for Warren, he's got his place in the HoF, so surely it's about time he gave up the microphone. His every match call is only hurting his legacy, not enhancing it.

Clearly penalty try, but nothing Moses could do. There was nothing wreckless or untoward, he was just trying desperately to stop the try in the split second and there was no way he could reach him with his upper body.. So correct decision by the bunker.. However.... I watched it on Nine last night (because I can't do Brenton Speed on Fox anymore), and both the clueless commentators and the referee indicated that they would have awarded a penalty try to Hopoate in the first half had he not grounded the ball. Warren went on about indiscriminate kicking and rules he read 25 years ago and compared Gutherson's attempt to stop Hoppa to Matthew Ridge... If they had given a penalty try there it would have created all sorts of outrage. Gutherons had hold of Hoppa. he is trying to get any part of his body under the ball. If that was a penalty try then there have been 50-100 penalty tries not given this year.
