'Not in the spirit of the game': Blake Ferguson blasted for wanting to fight after milking a penalty

By The Roar / Editor

The Parramatta winger appeared to have received some high contact – but Andrew Voss believes he was just playing for it, given his quick recovery.

Players feigning injury to get the video ref to check it when they know they were fouled sucks, but at least there's a genuine foul in there. Fergo's was one of the worst we've had because there was no crusher, there was no injury and then he jumps off to mouth off at the Penrith player (who likely called him some appropriate name based on the above) as soon as the whistle blows. If the bunker were serious they would have overturned the penalty and given Fergo 10 in the bin for a professional foul (i.e. cheating on purpose). Although I understand that would be a minefield of a precedent.

Embarrassing for both Ferguson and the game. Play like a man Fergo or bugger off. I'm over this diving for penalty stuff. Moses is a champion at it as well.

As embarrassing as it is for Ferguson, it should be equally embarrassing for the NRL. It was literally the only way Parramatta could get a penalty while the bunker was busy running the fine ruler over every tackle Parramatta made just looking for a reason to give a penalty.

The trainer who wasn't even on the field? That trainer? From the high shot you see Klein stop the game while the trainer is still running out.

Don't forget the two dives by Moses. One of which stopped a Penrith try.

Fergo, is a champ and this is nothing compared to Penrith's antics, milking of penalties, feigning injuries and slowing play down all assisted by Atkins in the bunker, Cleary's mate.

no, it was not under the guise of a head knock. The trainer can ask for play to be stopped for any injury, however that player must leave the field for at least 2 minutes. What happened was within the rules of the game Ferguson faked an injury. Kenny was actually injured

Penrith illegally stopping the play with 4 minutes to go for an injured ankle under the guise of a head knock is more than not in the spirit of the game - its down right cheating!. Penrith did not deserve to win.
