Rennie needs to look at the stats to support his selection policy and game strategy. - the average age of RWC winning teams is just under 28 years. There is a reason for this. Need to develop young players carefully and keep up their confidence and build their skills. You don’t just blood them all at once and let them get killed. If starting Lesolo then start Kurindrani, Hodge at 15 and DHP on the wing to settle things down and give him familiar combinations; - most points are scored from a set-piece. In the first game he started with only two proper jumpers and a bit player in Wilson due to playing short guys in Hooper and Samu. Surprise surprise the line out didn’t go well and they didn’t win. Prep should have been made well in advance to bring in Arnold and Skelton. They should be giving Hosea 20 mins of game time; - gainline wins and busted tackles are really important. Loto and Thor are the only ones who can do that consistently. Wilson needs to be put into a gap. Select players that can like Niasirani, Skelton, Faamisili and Bell and in the backs early selection of Simone and Kurindrani and Kerevi; - where you play the game is really important. So good kicking in general play is vital - Toomoa starts at 10 and have hodge at fullback to let his enormous boot do the work for the team. Look at the other 10s behind Toomoa not move him to 12. OConner and Lesolo don’t have great kicking games. With the worlds most dangerous back three kick deep and for touch and disrupt the lineout; - same for goal kicking. Another reason to have hodge at 15; - D and turnovers are really important. Much easier to defend if your forwards and inside backs can bust tackles and make post contact meters - see above; - Rassie has provided the template for nations that don’t have good balance sheets. Scrap the OS player rules, form good relationships with OS clubs (for SA that is Sale and Gloucester in England and Toulon and Toulose in France), treat super rugby as a development league, balance age and youth and play rugby by reference to strategies that are consistently shown by the stats to contribute to wins. Aus rugby is in dire straights. It’s poorly managed, coaching standards are poor and pay is weak despite there being a much bigger international pot than league. Needs root and branch change.

I’m not sure Rennie totally understands just how tone deaf his request for patience is. We’ve been more than patient for well over a decade and all we have got is disappointment and heartache

I reckon were almost 15 years into this rebuild. Not four weeks. How much patience is left?
