Wrapping with the trailing arm isn't considered using the arms. People are saying Hodge's tackle was "no arms". If it was, then this is definitely an illegal shoulder charge is the point.

Fair enough, we have seen in the past that one arm wrapping is seen as enough in some cases. I think the bigger issue for hodge is the head contact. If it’s a shoulder charge without head contact, then probably YC, and as such no post match sanction. If he is deemed to have made head contact with or without a shoulder charge, I would be very nervous for him. For me, the head contact is the more important part.

This one is definitely not a high hit but to me it looked like their left arms were the same. Both attempted to wrap their left arms but didn't wrap the right so I was talking about the shoulder charge aspect of Hodge's. To me these look the same in that regard.

If you ignore the left arm wrapping completely and the contact clearly to the mid-drift. I don’t see much comparison between these at all. Not making comment on Hodges guilt or innocence but these are not comparable.

You'd hope Hodge has this cued up for his hearing. Looks like the right arm was wrapped about the same amount in both tackles.
