How about – “here’s the new Jersey” or ……. do nothing …….. No new Jersey at all cos last years was just fine ???? But no doubt good company man Hooper was given a script to read by RA / Asics and he dutifully complied as usual ????

Well... a few things. Clearly this was Asics event as much as it is the Wallabies, so they have to be lavished with praised by the high profile sportsmen Rugby Australia committed to the event. As for their selection hopes, well one is the Wallaby captain and the other one is the Waratahs flyhalf. Their selections are assured without a doubt.

Doc, how about- “thanks for the kind comments about the new kit. We expect that it will be fit for purpose and look smart too. But it’s just a small thing in our quest to take on the rugby world’s best later this year. The rugby’s the thing, and if we here today modelling this kit today, are fortunate enough to be selected in a match day 23 we will be extremely proud. The jersey is smart yes. Just as we will need to be. Thank you ASICS for playing your part. Excuse us now, Bernard and I have got to get back to training. We are uncertain about our chances in fending off challenges from Poey, Quade, MT and Christian who are making compelling cases for inclusion in the 15. Cheers”

Right there we have two of Cheika’s ‘lock ins’. What seriously is the point of asking players to comment on a jersey? Is it about the jersey, or is it about testing the waters, similar to political parties pre-emptively ‘leaking a policy’ to test some legislation in the electorate?
