Should this Crusader's absolutely insane catch even be legal?

How on earth is this within the rules?

football has the best law - ball outside playing plane is out!!! cricket is easy to know - players must be within and feet inside the boundary to catch the ball - irrespective of what happens after.

i think the Law underwent several changes. first a person inside the field could jump out and tap the ball in - there was no need to catch then it was changed like football - a ball out of the playing plane was out irrespective if a player inside the field managed to tap it back. no its has been changed again - to what it is now. it is possible to stand outside the field and jump in - but player must catch the ball. i wonder why they keep changing these laws every year or so rugger laws are hard to understand and keep up with - without thee consttant chopping and changing. no wonder the refs keep making mistakes - must be hard to keep studying and memorizing every little change...

In cricket you must be in the field when you take off, ie: you cannot be out jumping in like Jordan is here; and if you catch or bat the ball into the field your feet must not be touching the ground out of field while hands are in contact with the ball. I cannot see for the life of me why Rugby can't use the same protocols. Here you see W.Jordan standing about 4 metres from the line and running in then jumping high to meet the ball and hopefully land on his feet within the field. Yes its athletic but its an unnecessary rule change to what was a simple rule. Will we see a day where 8-odd players are all standing about 4-5 metres out of the playing area and lined up along the sideline trying to catch the ball? Of course the REAL tactic behind all of this is to make the kickers aim their kicks shorter, aka its a positional tactic. And it works; after Jordan's catch the next penalty kick by A.Crudin was aimed far shorter with him kicking the ball into the stands.

You do see some dodgey catches in cricket on the boundary. The law is just a little convoluted. Just saying. I agree I don’t like this kind of catch, but at least they say you have to catch it, you can’t just bat it inside.

Hmm. I'll have to go check the Laws. I assumed you had to jump from the field of play to do that

I have no idea why WR changed the LAW to allow a ball outside be caught? before this they had the LAw simillar to football - a ball outside the playing plane is out, which was good. now people stay outside and jump in and try to catch . u dont see that happen in cricket or baseball !!!
