With Christmas just around the corner, Perth Glory have a chance to bring some festive cheer to their home supporters and record back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Following a frustrating start to the 2019-20 campaign, the defending premiers clicked into gear with a 3-0 win at Melbourne City last week.

The defending Premiers punished a lacklustre City and kept their first clean sheet in the process, but coach Tony Popovic is still demanding more from his players own home soil.

Western Sydney were flying after four rounds following three wins and a draw, but have since lost momentum and could find themselves out of the top six this weekend.

Defensively, Markus Babbel’s side have been in good shape, but refereeing decisions and missed chances have cost them of late.

This game is the red-and-blacks’ third away trip in succession, but Babbel is confident his team can come through this difficult patch and get a positive result in the West.

The Wanderers did claim victory at Perth in the FFA Cup back in August but have not won an A-League game at this venue since February 2014.

In team news, Glory’s Dino Djulbic is ruled out with an ankle injury while fellow-defender Osama Malik is still not fully fit after a hamstring problem. Kristian Popovic also misses out with a thigh strain.

For Western Sydney, Jordan O’Doherty and Radoslaw Majewski are both still sidelined with knee injuries.

Prediction
Perth are yet to record a home win this season but this match looks like the perfect opportunity to fix that.

It will be a very warm evening and the energy of Chris Ikonomidis could be vital for the home side.

Another player to watch in this game is Wanderers midfielder Nicolai Muller. The German looks to be settling into A-League football and scored his first goal for the club in last week’s defeat to Wellington.

For the result, I am tipping a Glory win. The away side have endured a tough run, losing three on the bounce, and this trip across the Nullarbor is probably coming at a bad time.
