A winless Sydney FC faces a winless Newcastle Jets at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in a match both must simply win if they hope to kick start their respective seasons. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog from 7:45pm AEDT.

Not many would have predicted that the Sky Blues would enter the third week of A-League Men’s play without a win on the board and even fewer would have slotted them in 11th on the ladder at the same time. Yet that is the frustrating position in which Steve Corica and his team find themselves and a hungry Jets will be no pushover after a decent showing against the Wanderers last week.

There are very positive signs in the hunter with Georgian Beka Mikeltadze and Cameroonian Olivier Boumal looking a pair of likely customers up front and a back four still gelling and destined to improve. The Sky Blues are yet to find the net this season and will see this as a potential banana-skin game. The entire A-League community will be assured of their eventual victory in it, yet early season form and injuries may well make this contest a lot more difficult for them than many people will predict.

Warland needs to be more careful with his fouls. Last week gave away a free kick around half way line as well.

The Jets play a style almost foreign to this league, constant pressing and great ball movement and keeping the ball with purpose from back to front. The fact they have embarrassed both Sydney teams and could have won both games should be a notice to the rest of the league that even they might not win the league they will be a problem for any team in this league with their style of football. Great football Newcastle Jets, such a joy for the neutral!

Great game. Some dodgy refereeing favoured Newcastle but they were very good, the pressing especially. Sydney couldn't keep the intensity up for 90 mins. On that score, Grant seems to have lost his edge the last 2 seasons.

Sydney FC and Newcastle Jets have played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Netstrata Stadium in Sydney. Both sides entered tonight's match without a win and many felt Sydney FC would have been triggered to respond with some vengeance by manager Steve Corica after such an average start to their season. Early on, that looked to be the case and after a 9th minute penalty that was successfully converted by Adam le Fondre, the logic appeared to be playing out as fact. The Sky Blues started well and had the Jets on the ropes early. When Elvis Kamsoba scored after 30 minutes, the result seemed in little doubt, with Newcastle looking decent on the ball and occasionally threatening, yet appearing unlikely to pull back the two goal deficit. However, football is indeed an amazing game and after what must have been a stirring half time address from Newcastle coach Arthur Papas, the Jets were back within one after Valentino Yuel scored in the 58th minute. Just seven minutes later he scored a second and even more impressive goal to level the contest and bar a disallowed Sydney goal to le Fondre late in the game, the Jets arguably looked the more likely to find a winner. Both teams walk away with a point, however, it will be the Jets that do so with a smile on their faces; knowing full well that a winless Sydney FC had pencilled this fixture in as a must win. Steve Corica will be furious at having let the two points slip and without a win in their first three, Sydney FC now face a long road to elevate themselves up the ladder over the coming weeks. It was A-League football at its best and a result few expected. Final Score Sydney FC………………..2 Newcastle Jets………….2
