Kevin - I think that both teams today will have to be taught how to defend, the score was 5-4 with 8 of those goals scored in 45 minutes. Cheers jb.

Roy - In the 1960 European Cup Final two excellent football teams set out to entertain the 127,000 (neutral) people who had paid to watch. Between them the teams scored 10 goals and that same crowd lined the streets back to the team hotels and clapped as their buses passed. Since that day lesser coaches have evolved systems in an effort to stop goals being scored and that's what takes you back to the 70's, with master coach (and amateur psychologist) Herrera bringing to fruition his "master stroke", catenaccio, a system designed to get a goal, and then flood your defensive areas with bodies (b....r the fans). Today Australian football, forever on the catchup to Europe, is plagued with what you describe as "crap", but change is ongoing and the crap will pass, the problem being, will the game still exist at a professional level.????? Cheers jb.

6 shots on target for a 5 goal haul. Unusually high conversion. Maybe it was poor defending. Maybe it was the heat. Maybe it was quality finishing (some of the finishing was exceptional). Maybe it was just one of those days where that magical switch is flicked, and every attempt on goal goes in (8 goals in 28 minutes). Apart from that first Armiento goal, where the keeper was beaten at the near post from a tight angle, I don't recall any obvious keeping errors, and even with that one, Armiento has smacked it with real venom.

The sooner Langkamp & Ota come into the side the better, Lachman can't defend and neither can Ingham.

Ingham and Lachman are awful and collectively have cost Perth the majority of their conceded goals.

I know where Perth should start. Defend and hold onto late leads, or in todays case, points.

Not concerned about attack at all. Looking at the goals scored tally alone, you’d think Perth would be thrashing Wunited with 4 goals. But, Garcia needs to tell the players, defend, defend, defend. Seriously, our defending was appalling today, and we seriously need to defend better if were going to do anything this season.

Who'd be a football coach? The half-time talk would have been a diatrIbe, no doubt telling the charges once again that football was all about scoring goals, not building possession figures. The full time get together would have to have been all about the defending ,or should we say "lack of defending" that saw eight goals being scored in 45 minutes. Where do the coaches start in preparation for next game.??? Cheers jb
