would really love to hear from 'Linda' and all the others who saw this girl as some sort of heroine and that used the lie about being pregnant as part of their argument. some people really need to indulge in a little self reflection so they might be able to approach these subjects a little more objectively instead of using spurious statements in support of their bias.

Hoy - re the not everything but most.......sad thing is,.....we just don't know. I'm not sure if she does anymore. And when she feels she only owes an apology to Sam Gilbert - - it does show that she just doesn't get the implications of what shes done. That said - the clear lesson here is that a deceiptful teenager is able to exploit social media (and a willing print/online media) to completely discredit (in the short term), individuals, a footy club and a footy code (in the eyes of some). Not bad 'power' to wield at that age. The force is strong in this one........

I agree with you Oz. I find it difficult to feel anything resembling sympathy for this girl, or Nixon at the end of the day. Everything has been brought upon herself by her actions, and on one hand people are saying she is young and niaive, and the other hand, applauding how she manipulated Nixon. You can't have it both ways. She knew what she was doing the whole time. Nothing she has said can be taken at face value. Everything she has said or done has appeared to have had a very calculated agenda to it. And most of what she has said has been false. Not everything, but most of it.

I'm really not sure what your point is Swampy? the girl lied from the outset, this issue blew up when first she lied to her school principle claiming she was pregnant to a St Kilda player that she met at a school clinic...........both false.......and yet that was enough for the papers to go wall to wall and for Peter Costello to recall ONLY what has turned out to be total lies. she DID get involved with a Sam Gilbert in Sydney (a long way from a suburban Melb school) posing as a 19 yr old athlete from the AIS in Canberra. Again - lies, deception. To this point - - she's the only one doing anything wrong. Now - Ricky Nixon is another thing, and I totally don't want to be seen to be defending him. re the 'secret way' the AFL is run?? that's a laughable comment that. In all of this, I'm just not too sure what people expected or wanted the AFL to do?? please, give us some answers - what should the AFL do? (i.e. NOT StKilda, NOT Sam Gilbert, Not Kim D, Not Kim D's family/friends/doctor/lawyer/manager??? - - but, the AFL who I don't see as having any real responsibility here at all and have done well to cop criticism that they know has been unwarranted but at the same time NOT going public with information that would only further discredit the girl. and further I heard Andrew Demetriou on 3AW this morning, where he admitted the AFL knew an awful lot about this case that they have chosen to NOT play out in the public domain, including the false claims of pregnancy, and that Demetriou was interviewed by Liz Hayes for about 30 mins, (and although they only used 2 lines from that) and he was reasonably happy with the balance of the reporting, BUT, was quite surprised that Ch.9 had named the girl and shown her face......however, obviously money has changed hands there. The AFL again has copped a bit of criticism, including in todays press from the women of footy - - but, for the people NOT privvie to the info it seems clear that much of the criticism has been somewhat unfair or uninformed. Ironically I heard an interview with a police deputy commissioner who, whilst being very helpful in the interview, was never willing to commit an opinion on specific cases/scenarios without knowing the circumstances and facts. It's sad a few more people don't adopt that sort of professional approach.

The likes of Moonface and Timnalk express an all to common PC and pious view which satisfies an agenda that has little to do with the welfare of anyone in this respect. It's very clear that they will run with the unthinking mob in order to vent their disdain of the AFL, hoping to gain some brownie points for their respective codes along the way. The fair dinkum 'dunces' have again been exposed in no uncertain terms, with their very myopic view to scapegoat and simplify, rather than move beyond their cerebral comfort zone in any meaningful way. You say you "Can’t wait till the AFL introduces their 3 strikes policy for this." It has yet to be shown the players did anything wrong so there are no strikes, only balls, so far. (Pardon the pun.)

This article is specifically about the girl being labelled a child, as I stated above it suggests free of any contribution to sorry this little saga. She cant vote but she can sure go to prison for murder. As Media watch has just noted on the ABC, social media is an untamed beast that even the conventional media are finding hard to catch up on. Its hard to control or deal with from the AFL's point of view. St Kilda and Ricky Nixon? First, Nixon. He is a fool, the whole drama and accommodation settlement should have spelt out to Nixon to stay away. he should have been suspended pending the investigation of his agent licence. Second St Kilda, I've said many times on the Roar, Sam Gilbert has a lot to answer for, at the very least the photos, why did he share them, why take, keep them? The girl has lied and manipulated her way to 15 seconds of fame. She said on Melb radio she feels she has enacted her revenge. yet all of her past actions and comments lead me to believe she is a media whore craving attention. It wont stop, because the attention drives her. Cut off from her parents she is desperate to find other ways to stay relevant, so the radio stations keep calling,etc. The reason Demetriou says she needs help is because she does. She is on a self destructive course that is difficult for others to control, her parents certainly gave up! If you want to blame anyone a good start right there.
