@ Mahonjit. Thanks for your reply. Do we know what the situation is with the matches being televised? As I have mentioned SBS and ABC were ok broadcasting matches at similar types of venues in the 80s and 90s. When I got foxtel back in 2007 the Aurora channel had a state league show which showed highlights from the VPL, WAPL and Tasmanian league and the tv coverage was fine at gfrounds like Knights stadium, Chaplin Reserve and Olympic village. I just think it is crucial that they keep the games at local grounds and don't play them at A league stadiums like Suncorp. Hindmarsh is probably fine if Adelaide United is playing but not as a neutral venue for an Adelaide state league team.

Adelaide are playing Welly at Marden. I guess Hindmarsh's rennovations won't be finished by then.

Yeah exactly. It might seem a little manufactured but that is a necessary evil at this stage. Realism > Romanticism.

Pleased to see South Hobart in it - a good match up against Tuggeranong. South Hobart FC got a mention in part III of my most famous football clubs in Australia series: http://www.theroar.com.au/2014/06/04/the-most-famous-football-clubs-in-australia-part-iii/

@evanaskew I completely understand your point, however, the AFL Cup game you point to is played in broad daylight and Pauly TV are not the official broadcaster of the FFA Cup. By this I mean that FOX have very stringent requirements because the are a highly professional broadcaster with serious $$$ invested and the Foxtel Cup is a completely made up Frankenstein tournament/cup/youth league with invitation spots and not serious sporting merit. The FFA Cup will be prime time and needs the lighting to suit. I completely agree with you that he smaller the ground the better, but we have to be realistic.

Just play the games at Adeliade City's home ground. This is the Cup not the A league. We are not going to see the crowds we see at A league games that we do at cup games. If the ground doesn't meet the tv requirements of foxtel then let sbs or abc broadcast it like they did in the NSL where matches were broadact from gorunds like Perry Park, Chaplin reserve, Spencer Park etc etc. This is an additional club competition that links the top level to the grass roots. It is made for state league grounds in my opinion and if we try to play it out of Suncorp, Ettihad or SFS we will kill it before it has time to grow. Olumpic v Brisbane Roar would look terrible on tv at Suncorp and to be honest would be a drag to attend but Roar v Olympic at Yeronga looks much better. This is what the FFA cup can look like if done the way I suggest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuaXJXbSeCU This is what it could end up looking like if the suggestion that Adelaide play wnaderers at Hindmarsh becomes official policy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epbFX-9AdMQ The latter video is not a crack at Aussie Rules. I don't like the sport but the cup comp could be mcuh better I am guessing if a club like Norwood played Collingwood for example at Norwoods home ground rather than the AFL ground in Adelaide. I am sorry its name escapes me.

That sounds really stupid in my humble opinion. Their in the competition, if they get drawn for a home game they should get a home game. The only proviso I might add is that any cup games against non a league opposition be in the the npl sides ground because the cost of a flight to NZ will place undue financial strain on them.

That order you propose is spot on. Its also good to see their is an option in between the actual home ground and Hindmarsh that should be investigated. I imagine the problem with going to Hindmarsh is the cost. Tickets would be expensive in order to break even - but drop the price to get fans and you loose the income for the 'home' club. The initial option must always be at home. Failing that, and only failing that, you go for the next best 'local' and up to standard option where the 'economics' mean the club can make some cash. In some circumstances it may be a trade off between TV and income - and as long as the FFA apply their guidelines in the interests of the 'home' team as far as possible, that's all any reasonable person could expect.

It’s a tricky one, I see Adelaide City drawing about 2-4k to this game which in Hindmarsh would be horrible. Adelaide City have had great success playing Friday night games at Oakden, but there is a difference between Friday night lighting and facilities vs White City and being broadcast nationally on Fox v WSW. It’s not just lighting the pitch, the stands etc. need to be lit to a certain level also. If Oakden isn’t up to it, they could look at neighbours Marden, which has hosted international fixtures before and has much less capacity than Hindmarsh. Order of preference 1. At home (why not, it’s the cup after all, Liverpool weren’t supposed to enjoy playing @ Havant & Waterlooville) 2. At Marden Sports Complex if the facilities are up to it. Capacity 6,000 3. Hindmarsh, but better make the tickets damn cheap!
