Frank Lowy falls off the stage during A-League Grand Final

By The Roar / Editor

FFA chairman Frank Lowy gave spectators at the 2015 A-League grand final a scare on Sunday evening, as he tumbled from the stage while assisting in the trophy presentation.

The 84-year-old billionaire made the slip as he stepped forward to pick up the trophy with FFA CEO David Gallop.

The Victory players waiting to receive their prize were left in shock as they waited to see if their sport’s chairman was unharmed.

Luckily, aside from a sore shoulder and some grass in his hair, Lowy was able to recover to continue the presentation.

Melbourne Victory claimed their third A-League crown with the win, after defeating arch-rivals Sydney FC 3-0 in front of a packed house at AAMI Park.

AFLs fault clearly. Had to reduce the size of the dais at AAMI Park.....could've had a semi trailer at Etihad. Ruddy conspiracy.

That would not be fun at all.

I think that contributed to the fall - he couldn't handle handing the dunny seat over to victory and tried to take less than distinguished evasive action.

Actually Fuss,I watched my "EGGBALL" game,& then the "A" League Grand Final---all through the marvels of delayed telecasting. SFC seemed to be caught flat-footed all through the first half, with the Victory cutting through them like a hot knife through butter! I don't support either team,by the way!

I agree,Fuss,. I didn't watch the presentation & just in passing saw a comment about it on the News later,as I was passing. I thought they said Frank was OK.,but I was a bit worried. As you said,he is an old bloke,& sometimes a fall can be very bad ,even though a young man would laugh it off. It seems as if he is a tough old bloke,though--good on him!

Well people haven't forgotton him wearing an SFC cap at a semi final between the two back in 2010 which to some people is confirmation he is a SFC fan Larger issue is the "Football Federation Sydney" perspective that people have on the FFA down here

I don't understand why they were singing that. The FC fans were long gone.

and Casper appears on cue after talking ill of the late Johnny Warren and now Lowy involved in a fall with 'hilarious' footage All your Christmases have come at once. The A-League GF would garner more attention overseas than any other Australian football GF anyway.

This is one of the best PR stunts of all time. Didn't watch the game, but who didn't see this fall? For me to even be posting on an ALeague thread is testament to it. Good on Frank for getting up and dusting it off. Loved the wry smile on his face whilst on the ground being attended to. Great man indeed, and I'm sure even he would admit this was pretty funny to watch a day later, especially when no one was seriously injured.

I think the applause he received when got back up made the slip worthwhile. He really does cop some juvenile BS from presentation ceremonies.
