After heading into bat, New Zealand’s opening batsman Martin Guptill got his side off to a flyer in the first one-day international against Australia, highlighted with a huge six that travelled 113 metres onto the roof at Eden Park.
Guptill would go on to smash eight fours and five sixes on way to 90 from just 76 deliveries.
New Zealand would finish their innings at 8/307, a modest total considering they cruised past the 200-run mark with 20 overs remaining.

The MCG is so big the New Zealand openers would have gotten lost on the way out to the middle.

Funnily enough it wouldn't be. They measured the 113m based on a straight line along the ground to the point exactly below where the ball initially landed (in this case on a stadium roof). Without an obstructions, such as a very high roof, the ball would have traveled considerably further. I'd say that would have been a 125-130m monster at many other grounds. Massif massif hit. I reckon the Guptil would be a pretty good driver in golf, cause that was a pretty good golf swing!
