South Sydney reportedly meet with Robbie Farah's manager

By News / Wire

South Sydney assistant coach Matt King has given the strongest indication yet that embattled Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah is headed to the club.

Reports have emerged in recent days that the Rabbitohs have met Farah’s manager as the NSW Origin hooker continues to be named in reserve grade.

And while King insists he knows only what he has read in the media, he expects Farah to be at the club in 2017.

“The papers don’t usually get it too far wrong,” he played Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast.

“By all reports Robbie is on the way to the club. I’d like to give a little shout to Cam McInnes and Damien Cook who have been there for us this year and done a great job.

“If Robbie does come back, obviously he will bring that experience and that little extra something out of (number) nine, but those two guys have been great for us this year.”

Souths have lost eight straight matches, which is their worst streak since they lost nine in a row over the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

They also desperately require added spark, scoring just an average of eight points a match in their past five losses.

Farah already has close ties to the Rabbitohs given his brother, Eddie, is the club’s physio.

And King, who played his nine Origin matches for NSW before Farah made his debut, said the 32-year-old would be a welcome addition.

“Eddie is our physio and he’s a really good fellow, so if Robbie is half the bloke that Eddie is then he will fit into our club fine.”

South Sydney star Sam Burgess has already endorsed the possible signing if he’s brought to the club.

Unless they win 2 and lose 2 of the next 4 games you are absolutely correct, they will not be the same. But let's say the worst case scenario they lose the next 4, they will still come out with a win % of 41.67% which is still higher than 33.33% with Farah.

Lets see how those stats end up after the 26th round and after the Tigers have played the Titans, Panthers, Warriors and the Raiders, somehow I don't think they will be the same.

Tigers are 10 wins and 10 losses in the season to date. 50% win rate Farah is 3 wins and 6 losses. 33% win rate. If you go through all the player stats for the tigers this season you may note that Farah has the lowest win % out of all the players there, if that doesn't tell you something, nothing will. The second lowest is 40%.

They haven't lost since Taylor dropped Farah, so regardless whether Taylor is right or wrong it's hardly a flimsy excuse. I've never seen so much outrage about a first grade coach selecting his team. I've seen plenty of players - some better than Farah - get dropped to the reggies without all this fuss.

It seems the only one being arrogant here is you. It appears (only because we cannot know how variables would impact) that it is working better. You are definitely saying it won't and that Taylor is a failure as a coach, despite the fact that the team is winning games (last one against defending premiers who were top 4 until the loss) in touch with the top 8 despite (only points diff keeping them out right now) with a team that many predicted to finish in the bottom 4.

The team won't work better, this is all a dream or flimsy and poor Taylor excuse that will end in the next few rounds for this arrogant Taylor (who is a failure as a coach) and the Wests/Tigers board, who haven't got a clue what is going on. But never mind, its worked out perfectly for Souths as we need Robbie Farah much more than Taylor and the Wests/Tigers!

Why is it arrogant to not select a player because they thing the team works better without them?

Moa to Souths is far from a done deal BUT there are rumours to that effect. This rumour only started when some idiot Journo Adrian Proszenko suggested that Tom Burgess was being "shopped around" which is absolute CRAP! Shane Richardson said so when we spoke to him a few days ago. Dave Tyrrell will retire with 1 year left to go and Nathan Brown is not guaranteed for 2017. When these 2 issues get resolved then Moa may be considered! Why would Souths want to sign an "underperforming prop" We have enough of those types already mate!

I must correct you there, it’s been 9 loses in a row for Souths, they haven't won a game since round 11 when they beat the Dragons 34-24. Robbie will be a great addition to Souths and he will add what they have lacked for the last 2 years around the ruck and at dummy half (that is even when Luke was there). Robbie will show that arrogant Taylor and the Wests/Tigers board (who are really failures) irrespective of their hero like attitudes towards sacking Farah. Welcome to the Rabbitohs Robbie and you will never ever be treated like you were treated at the Wests/Tigers, loyalty at Souths is respected and treated with much more respect than either by Taylor and the Wests/Tigers!!!

Club running like a fat dog on a treadmill, meet high profile player who follows instructions as well as a group of cats. This will end well.
