Rolland, I feel your pain mate. I agree, Laurie needs to take a good long look at himself and then fall on his sword, but there is no way around the fact that the players themselves were so ridiculously pathetic. I don't know if you have ever had to endure a wet fish weak handshake from a bloke before, well, for me to watch that game was like the whole NSW side giving me the wet fish handshake. Sorry Mushi, thought about not responding to your post, but just couldn't resist. Looks like you've been reading the inspirational posters that hang on office walls with pictures of eagles and snow crusted mountains. Hate to burst your bubble. But in the cold hard light of reality, they are nothing more than a lame attempt by management and HR departments to get you to feel good about yourself and inspire you to greater productivity. That stupid little one liner you posted doesn't even come close to helping the Blues realise they were crap, end of story. They lacked heart, they lacked ambition and they lacked desire. The coach is an amateur and what has been happening over the last 12 years is a disgrace. It's time to turn on the light and have a very close look in the mirror, no more time for clichés, platitudes or hackneyed little phrases. Time for real champions to stand up, own the fact that they suck, and put some fire in the belly, with aggression and passion, and play like it literally is the last game of football they will ever play.

Sorry Art, to some degree you're right, over the years, the refs have been a dead set pathetic joke, but even in spite of the blatant favouritism towards QLD with the refs, this isn't the reason we stand with lowered heads in the losers corner. We are here because of the horribly woeful attitude of our team. QLD look good only because we let them look good. Look at the first game, Smith who?, Cronk who? didn't matter they were there, we just steam rolled over the top of them, yet in the second half of game two and the whole of game three, what happened????? The players, the coaching staff, and the coach need to won this, no excuses.

Sorry champ, did you read my whole comment. The absolutely undeniable fact that the cheque to the refs from QLD seems to clear a lot quicker than the one coming from NSW put aside, and also the masterful art that Smith has in intimidating the weak livered refs who just happen to help facilitate the rub of the green towards QLD at every given opportunity, the gist of my comment was directed to the sorry excuses for football players that put on the Blue jersey and forgot to wear it with pride and passion – not the ref. Those blokes talk up a great game, but speak volumes otherwise when they run out at Suncorp and play like that. The attitude they had within the first game of this series is the one they forgot to pack in their luggage and bring with them to Suncorp this time. Just can’t understand where their heads are at. I just get the feeling they don’t want it enough, it’s not as life or death to them as it is to QLD. Or is it that they are too busy being polite and courteous to the QLD side, making excuses for being a New South Welshman, and have forgotten to really, deep down in the bottom of their guts just have a good old fashioned “hate QLD” attitude. I’ve been in QLD during SOO and I can say first hand, I could smell, taste, and feel the hate for anything NSW. I’m more than happy to return the favour. The Queenslanders didn’t like it when we did the grenade post try celebration, boo hoo, let’s give them more. QLD hit us, we hit them twice as hard, they want to score a try, we’ll score three, Alfie Langer runs out as the 14th man, no problem, we’ll get Johnsie out there too. Vautin makes another smart comment again, we’ll get Tommy to make ten. It’s not that QLD were good, it’s just that we were BAD, and we made them look good, and that’s the part that kills me. If I’d put my mum out there in a blue shirt, she would have done better job. Maloney was right, we do deserve better.

As true as this assessment is and as much as I hate to finger individual players (phrasing) in losing teams, can someone acknowledge that Fifitas mistake late in the game came from Maloney pulling out of catching a ball that was all but on his chest after having a look at the defence?

Seriously, Jimmy Maloney's raw honesty makes him a prime candidate to join the refereeing ranks upon his retirement.

Just totally gutted. I've now called it quits. After more than a decade of complete and utter shame, listening to the Queenslanders dribble, and having to apologise for the fact that I come from NSW - tonight was the last straw that broke the camels back. Right from the start when QLD scored a try off the back of a blatant penalty that should have gone our way, and then having to watch my football team playing completely without heart or passion or desire. Why should I invest so much of myself if these guys can't even try, dead set, just get out there and put in, just give it a go you pack of weak spirited bludgers. And it's these same blokes that want a pay rise and to become partners in the game. Get rid of the complete and utter oxygen thieving lot of them. I work hard to make ends meet, bust my guts, these guys get paid handsomely to pay a game that they should first and foremost love, and this is how they respond. Forget ASADA, this is by far, the darkest day in Australian sport, the day the blues died and Paul Vautin smiled. I used to think the worst day in sport ever was when my beloved Magpies disappeared, but that day now takes second place to what happened today.
