What a shocking decision. Where are Geelong's goals going to come from? Menzel averages 2.2 per game and usually contributes to a couple of others. The coach and his staff must really have lost respect for the guy. I love the bloke and his story of survival against terrible odds is inspiring. Wow, this will leave a sour taste for a lot of fans.

Menzel dropped! You have got to be joking. Who is ging to kick the goals. Tomahawk doesn't kick goals any more, he is usually roaming a long way from goal to receive the ball. Harry T is hit or miss, mostly miss. He is still a solid backman struggling to play as a forward. He is not a natural goal kicker, he still lobs the ball instead of kicking through it. Parsons and Parfait cannot be expected to kick more than a goal between them, Motlop is good for 1 goal. That leaves Dangerfiled to pick up the slack. So lets say one from Hawk, 1 from Harry, 1 from Parsons, 2 from Dangerfied and a couple of others from midfielders or backmen wandering forward. That's 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 8 goals. 8 goals and the same number of points will give us a score of 56 which will not bring home the chocolates. May as well start looking for the next Dan Menzel as the current one certainly wont be playing at Geelong next year. Nor will Motlop. No worries there are plenty of Guthries to fill the void. And we know the coach loves Guthries because he kept picking Cameron to play even though he had been insipid for years.

Have to agree with others here. I am gutted. Menzel is a sublime talent capable of turning a game with his ball use, strong hands and goal kicking. To be left out of the team after kicking 38 goals in 17 games suggests it is for disciplinary reasons or for pissing off the coach. Forget about the lack of forward defensive pressure, this guy scares the opposition as he often turns a half a chance into a goal. He has more talent in his backside than most players in the Geelong team which lets face it does not bat deep. But to add to the insult Menzel has been replaced by Zach Guthrie who averages a staggeringly low 34 dreamteam points and 10 disposals a game. Guthrie was a late pick up in the rookie draft. He might amount to something one day but he has a lot to learn before he can be taken seriously. Zach Guthrie, James Parsons, Brandon Parfait can consider themselves incredibly lucky. Menzell is so far ahead of them it's not funny. I expect Geelong to go out in straight sets for 2 reasons. The absurd descion to emasculate the forward line by removing a key goal kicker, and the fact that our bottom 4 or 5 players are not up to AFL.

As soon as I saw Menzel out I thought you would be unhappy and I'm with you. I can't understand it, he's a gun and should play. It's either tactical due to the weather forecast or Geelong have decided not to resign him/suspect he'll leave.
