The second week of trade period is here and with only four days left on the clock we are sure to see the pace of action pick up. Join us here on The Roar for all the latest AFL trade news and rumours from 9am AEDT.

Five full days of trading action still saw only four deals done last week, all of them coming on the last two days of the week.

Jake Lever and Devon Smith were the big names to move, joining the Melbourne Demons and Essendon Bombers respectively, with Adelaide gaining two first-round draft picks and the Giants one in return.

Jarman Impey was traded to Hawthorn and Hayden Crozier moved to the Bulldogs in the other trade deals of the week.

In terms of free agency, Jackson Trengove has moved from Port Adelaide to the Bulldogs and both Tom Rockliff and Steven Motlop have joined the Power.

Free agency is officially closed as of last night which means it’s no longer an avenue for someone like Daniel Menzel, who looks almost certain now to re-sign with Geelong on a one-year deal.

What can we expected today? There was a lot of talk last week that Jack Watts would make a decision on his future over the weekend and all the talk is that he’ll nominate Port Adelaide as a preferred destination today.

That deal could get done quickly after with Port Adelaide probably trading pick 31 to the Demons for his services.

It will also be worth keeping an eye on Geelong who have gotten a higher-than-expected compensation pick for Steven Motlop’s departure, No.19 overall.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see that used in a trade for Gary Ablett, or perhaps a last-ditch attempt to pull Jake Stringer away from Essendon.

Yes I do know something. Harley is having to be older than he is with more responsibility than he should have. I hope he stars. There will be no bitterness from Freo here. Freo hopes for his best. If he is a champion by the end of his career and Freo gets mocked for letting one get away, Harley and the club will know the circumstances. Maybe he'll come back one day.

You are ridiculous. You don't and didn't want him. Most Geelong supporters have been treating him as their a whipping boy him for years. And again, that is not what the comment was about. It was a comparison of how the average punter like you and the media treat similar, essentially innocuous comments. Ironic, Jimmy Bartel was quite vocal about Walkers comments. Silence from Jimmy in regard to Motlop, 1 of his own stating he has a better chance of "success" at the Power than at Geelong. What success has the Power had. They win the trade period?

Its called being adults. Only one club feels the need to pout and carry on when a player leaves.

Don, I keep hearing you say Balic's mother has issues, but where'd you hear that? I'm genuinely curious here; was that rumour ever propelled by the media or do you know something I don't?

Orange is such an anaemic colour compared to a rich Docker purple. It's kind of like a limp lettuce hand. Either way, these are good player movements. Wilson would suit Freo, probably off Weller's wing moreso than half back. I want delivery to our forwards. Weller is just a gun. I want him to stay...and maybe he'll do that other year in his contract. If he goes, he'll shine. He won't have to wait for Fyfe, Mundy, Neale, the Hills, Bennell, Walters and Blakely before he gets midfield time. Win, win for players and clubs whether it happens or not.

So GWS hold orange whip over Wilson?

That's true but you can't always control a wrist injury or the fact that the boy's mother has issues and Balic's family needs him at home. This is not home sickness and it it nothing to do with Gold Coast screwing us. Freo has a brilliantly drafted squad of young kids, with terrific experience in their teens. We are really well set up.

Harley Balic is a player that has shown great potential in his few AFL games. He will eventually be a very good player. The disaster is that he doesn't want to stay at Fremantle and that Fremantle aren't going to get what he is worth. Fremantle will be lucky to get a late 30s draft pick for Harley when in actual fact he is worth much more.

No. Not to Fremantle they aren't. Weller is a good no 13 pick from the 2014 draft. There is already a massive 2015 AFL Draft hole in Fremantles list, in no small part thanks to the Gold Coast, and now you propose a trade that would create a 2014 AFL Draft hole. Weller stays at Fremantle.

Harley a "disaster"? Hardly That's an absolute star as cheap as chips. Brownlow next season. Freo is totally on top in this. We'll get good stuff for Balic and Tucker is a super player. Chin up Guttsy!

Fremantle are the club that just keep on giving when it comes to the Gold Coast. The Harley Bennell trade has been a disaster for Fremantle when you take into account the salary cap and the distraction cost to Fremantle. Essentially in the 2015 AFL Draft Fremantle traded pick 16 and pick 35 for pick 22 from the Gold Coast and a whole lot of challenges. And then Fremantle traded picks 56 and pick 24 (2016) for picks 38 and pick 61. Fremantle picked up Darcy Tucker at pick 22 and Harley Balic at pick 38. Harley Balic now wants to go back to Melbourne. In many ways Gold Coast have wrecked Fremantles 2015 draft and now they look like they are gutting Fremantles 2014 draft.

Wilson > Weller easily Weller a second round pick in the 20's at best which may help Freo either get back in the draft or to use that for GWS Wilson.

It sounds like he will go at the end of next season anyway though. 'It's not if but when' his manager said. So maybe we can try get something good for him while we can. I'm disappointed he is wanting to leave though. He was going to be a big part of our future I thought.

I'd say Ablett is 5 times the player Mitchell is right now.

Because it's Ablett. If Geelong get 2 years out of him the way he played this year, he is still worth a top 10...unless you are restumping and rewiring.

Weller is worth Brandon Matera and a second round pick. That would round things up quite nicely. Has cost GC very little (only Matera) and Weller will end up being a central player at GC. Basically, they get a #13 pick with experience (Weller) for a second round pick. They weren't doing much with Matera anyway. Freo chucks the second round pick at GWS for Wilson.
