Brad Hill set to be dumped as leader at Dockers

By Justin Chadwick / Wire

Brad Hill’s stint in Fremantle’s leadership group will be a short one, with the former Hawk set to be dumped following his recent run-in with police.

Hill, who crossed from Hawthorn to Fremantle at the end of 2016, was elevated to the Dockers’ leadership group on the eve of the current season.

But he is set to be demoted for a series of breaches that he committed during a night out in Scarborough two weeks ago.

Hill was spoken to by police after jumping a barrier at a Scarborough nightspot in a bid to get into the venue.

He is being investigated by police for breaching a move-on notice, and for giving police a false name.

Damningly, Hill didn’t tell the club about his run-in with police until a TV station contacted Fremantle about the incident a number of days later.

Hill also broke the team’s alcohol policy by drinking while injured.

There are also reports he had been drinking alcohol on at least one other occasion prior to that.

Hill has been sidelined since injuring his knee in round two.

The club initially expected Hill to miss only one or two weeks with the bone bruising.

But Hill is struggling to overcome the injury, and no definitive timeline has been set on his return.

Hill enjoyed a standout debut campaign at the Dockers last year, winning the club’s best and fairest award.

He also has three flags to his name from his time at Hawthorn.

Fremantle are expected to hand down their official punishment to Hill on Tuesday.

Hill’s off-field misdemeanour comes at a bad time for Fremantle, who are still dealing with the fallout of the sexual harassment storm that engulfed coach Ross Lyon.

The club’s hierarchy has publicly backed Lyon, but the negative attention severely damaged Fremantle’s brand.

Dockers chief executive Steve Rosich said the club’s staff were currently undertaking extra training on the AFL’s respect and responsibility policy.

"Most of all stats are wrong" ? That's sold for you to own as well. As I said before, no thanks to a game of dodge nor charades for that matter. ?

- Most of all stats are wrong made up by you 6 score involvements zero clangers etc Rubbish .20 disposals is correct but he turned the ball over regularly some that resulted in easy goals to Hawthorn . Stats do not always tell the real story He was not a winner on the day as a individual along with a few others he was a failure on the day. You don't agree ,that is fine by me.

Ok so after all that you're still happy to own that opinion, "miserable failure" = 20 disposals, 7 intercepts, 6 contested etc? Sold, it's yours and you can keep your game of dodge. :D

Your opinion fine ,I differ. You don't believe i was at the GF that is fine. I don't believe everything you say. You and Don are both obviously passionate fans who never criticize any player or the club that is great but i do.The players i think should be moved on and are critical of there form etc.is not personal, i am being critical of the coach and staff. You support there decision but there are some that don't.

Ballantyne had one of the worst Grand Finals in living memory.

Let's not wander off now. Michael Johnson was not a "miserable failure" in the '13 GF, in fact he played quite well, especially early. He generally hit his targets and helped repel repeated Hawthorn attacks and was creative when he could be. Statistically, he had the second highest intercepts on the ground, had a handy 6 score involvements (not bad for a backman) and zero clangers.

Michael Was a great footballer for Freo who was sadly dropped from the leadership group . A lot of kids make mistakes everyone deserves a second chance but he was caught three times not just alcohol but drugs as well. Just my opinion but I do not rate him a legend. He has always has given 10o% on the field and still is, Lyon is still playing him, fair enough but my opinion is he slowing down the development of youth and the rebuild. Duman has been dropped this for example.

I do love how you try the old pot-kettle on jb in the midst of playing the vintage ad hominem ploy. Obvious you don't like being held to account, so at least try for some accuracy in your comments. Particularly when you disparage a legend of the footy club in Michael Johnson.

Jonboy- if you haven't watched multiple replays if 2013 its understandable. I don't rewatch 91,05 or 2015, port fans don't settle in to replay 07 and pies fans don't go the 02/03 special ever

Anon- welcome to the malicious little list of those audacious enough to think freely. For your reference you may continue having an opinion and expect myself to challenge it if I disagree, you are also welcome to challenge my opinion. Enjoy

Dalgety-Don- Carrigton now i know you live in one of those streets in Fremantle i am not sure whether you are the same person or a couple or live in the same house or street or what, and could not care less either way, I know you do not like me on my views of some Freo players but you can throw all the derogatory remarks and insult's you like but you will not shut me down.I respect your opinion on those players so why not get over it . From the last post you appear to just want to go on and on.Well i don't .cheers.

lolz You mean you wrote some words vaguely around that subject. Whether you were at the game or not I don't know, it would in fact probably make your recall even less reliable if that's all you're going on. The most likely way to picking up the detail objectively would be to watch it (several times) after. Given your invective when it comes to Johnson, Ballantyne and Pearce, the level of emotion you experience you would likely be blinded, discount and/or quickly erase their good play, while fixate, exaggerate and burn in your memory anything resembling less than perfect play. Ballantyne had a very very ordinary day, but it can be a fine line. If he had nailed those couple of chances in the last quarter it would've been a pearler. It is what it is though, so he gets the stink rating.

Dalgety- I answered that Question@ 10.30 this morning I was at the game maybe you were ,but judging by your remarks i think you fell asleep in the lounge chair. It was sad watching Ballantyne (ranked 44 ) fall over 15 times .Pearce butchering the football and like Johnson making bad decisions ,and worse turning over the football resulting in easy goals for Hawthorn. Fyfe battled manfully but was criticized for poor goal kicking but if you were at the ground with the strong swirly breeze you would know it was not easy,These three players and 3-4 others cracked under pressure.Sad day but a wasted opportunity. I do not care if one kicked a goal or some one thought well we have to put someone's name here or there. This is the way it was.

It actually comes from my comment to you. You do, however, have the intellectual support of Jonboy and Matti. I suppose you're not bright enough to work out what that suggests.

Given your description of their performance in the GF as "miserable failures" (while Johnson was named in the best for Freo, Pearce was one of the five or six goal kickers and they all contributed), I'm not sure your recall or evaluations of the game should even be trusted by yourself, let alone others.

You know, I was the one who actually told you it was Chris Gayle. You had to leave a footy website because you couldn't find anything, look back through every other sport until you got to cricket and even then you had to go back 40 years to Clive Lloyd. Now, what point do you think you were making? That I bad-mouthed Chris Gayle? And...why are you making that point? Where is that relevant to anything?
