Wallabies player ratings vs Springboks

By The Roar / Editor

The results are in! We asked you to rate the Wallabies side that took to the field against the Springboks, and now we’ve added up the data from all of our responders to bring you our DIY player ratings.

A disappointing loss was unsurprisingly not well received by the voters who have a number of Wallabies starters some wretchedly low scores.

In particular Ned Hanigan (2.96), Kurtley Beale (2.73) and Israel Folau (3.57) all copped a whack from the fans, while skipper Michael Hooper (4.08) wasn’t too popular either.

Stepping into the No.2 guernsey to replace Tatafu Polota-Nau, Folau Faingaa could manage only a 3.61 – not impressive, but perhaps he deserves to be cut some slack.

The happier end of things was David Pocock earning best afield honours for the Wallabies with a rating of 7.45. Will Genia (6.57) and Dane Haylett-Petty (6.15) weren’t far behind.

It's absolutely baffling as 9 is one position we have a good number of young up and comers

Yeah that seems improbable, but Id guess a lot of raters handed out a lot of 1s to most of the players out of sheer frustration and Hoppers Aaron’s were unusually spread out - usually about 25-30% is the mode score. Personally I thought Hooper was ok.

haha don't worry mate I assumed that was aimed at someone else - Packers are going ok except for a bizzare tie with the Vikings the other week, it'd be nice if they'd sort out this roughing the passer nonsense though.

You already have a Quade on the field - his name is Beale....

Agreed Hoges It is a tragedy English hasn’t been given a run. If Steve Jobs was at the forefront of innovation then the fat, cantankerous clown is at the other end with regards to selection

Phipps was the easily the best player on the field for England during the English 3-0 whitewash of the Wallabies in 2016. In fact i’d go as far as to say if Phipps was playing in an English jersey that series - the Wallabies probably would have won

A little credit will come from the Fan´s once the wallabies start winning games. Tough as it is, however the reality is with woeful performances riddled with simple errors it is hard to give credit. The second half was better, however still lacking to get over the gain line and score points. A out of box thought is, the Wallabies should play a friendly against the West Coast Eagles, to fix their ball skills and then a friendly against the Sydney Rooster to fix the muscle up front and tackling.

I can’t believe English can’t get a run. He is the best defensive centre in Australia and knows the way to the try-line. One of the most underrated players in the country in my opinion.

Hooper gets a mode of 1 and a mean of 4.08? A highly skewed result; looks like Cheika, Hooper and his mum must have voted many times.
