As far as the ABs are concerned it doesn’t help that they don’t play there that often, there aren’t that many opportunities to win there for anyone. The only team they have actually played there in the last five years as far as I can tell is Australia about ten times with one test v Ireland. Prior to that the last side other than Australia to play there was France in 2018.

Why is Eden Park so hard to win at? - The Roar Rugby Podcast

Bit of a silly bitter response, not much value in responding to that.

All Blacks star signs surprise short-term deal with Irish heavyweights

What it does though is demonstrate that super rugby isnt that strong at the moment and thereby Im confident the likes of Leinster, La Rochelle and Toulouse would generally be of a higher standard to the likes of the Blues and the Hurricanes. Also the fact that the Crusaders have dominated super rugby for years doesnt point to a very competitive tournament.

All Blacks star signs surprise short-term deal with Irish heavyweights

Yes I have but regardless of that the Crusaders are the only side to have won anything in super rugby in the last 7 years, they won it last year and have won almost half of all titles, the next best is three. The Hurricanes and the Blues the best sides this year are no way near the level the Crusaders were at when they were at their best.

Pretty sure Munster beat Crusaders in a friendly earlier this year. Munster aren’t anywhere near the level Leinster are at. Leinster may not have won the champions cup for a while but they have been getting to finals and they still have the second most champions cup trophies of any side and the most league trophies.

So you think super rugby is better than the top Euro competitions? Also you do know that SA won the World Cup and their club sides compete in the NH competitions? Kind of makes your point a bit redundant.

'I'm a big fan': Kiss throws weight behind Club World Cup as Europe and Super Rugby agree to new tournament

Its no coincidence that opposition sides in key knock out games nearly always suffer multiple key injuries v La Rochelle.

I have been both super rugby games and champions cup matches albeit I haven’t been to super rugby games since the Jaguares were booted out. I think its fair to say that the champions cup is of a higher standard now but probably only Leinster, Toulouse and La Rochelle significantly ahead of everyone else with most other good teams of a similar level to the best super rugby sides. Im sure the best super rugby sides like the Hurricanes and Chiefs would challenge the top Euro sides but Id be surprised if they would be dominant against the top three.

Is he doing this so he can get the Olympic rings tattooed on himself? Seems an odd move for a thirty plus year old flanker. Id be surprised if he makes much of an impact as great a 15s player he once was or maybe still is.

'Not the fastest, not the fittest': Wallaby legend's brutal self-own after Hong Kong Sevens call up

Well ten years ago they were beaten finalists with a team that included names such as Carter, Crotty, Dagg, Read, McCaw, Whitelock, Franks and Moody etc. A much better side than they have now and probably a better side than most current super rugby sides now. That’s why I gave that time frame but sure they were really dominant for the last seven.

Blues beat Crusaders for first time in 10 years, Chiefs survive late scare

Nice one phantom. I could be very wrong and time will tell how Robertson fares with the ABs but I get the sense that Australia may nick a win vs the Abs in this years rugby championship.

Blues beat Crusaders for first time in 10 years, Chiefs survive late scare

Well the Crusaders have for the last ten years been significantly better than everyone else and the NZ teams that are better them now are not at the level that the Crusaders were at, not even close in my view.

Blues beat Crusaders for first time in 10 years, Chiefs survive late scare

Fair enough, Ive watched super rugby since the 90s and I must say this is the weakest I can ever remember the teams in general. Im sure the ABs will still be as competitive as ever but Im not convinced they have the same conveyor belt of talent coming through. The series v England will be a good test of where both teams are.

Blues beat Crusaders for first time in 10 years, Chiefs survive late scare

You dont think the Crusaders are going downhill fast? Ok then. This is a team that has dominated super rugby for the last decade and provided the bulk of AB players during that time. You arent worried even a little?

Blues beat Crusaders for first time in 10 years, Chiefs survive late scare

Yes thats my point. A strong Crusaders side has for a long time now formed the foundations of a strong ABs side.

Blues beat Crusaders for first time in 10 years, Chiefs survive late scare

Yeah the team that traditionally forms the basis of the ABs squad for the last twenty years. Given how badly Australian rugby is struggling the other NZ sides should be much more dominant.

Blues beat Crusaders for first time in 10 years, Chiefs survive late scare

Must be concerning for ABs fans to see their super rugby sides going downhill fast.

Interesting that a lot of Irish guys are going to SA to coach now. Three Irish guys have been or are involved with the Boks recently and one with the Sharks that I can think of. Felix Jones, Paddy Sullivan (currently Boks), Jerry Flannery (currently Boks), Noel McNamara (Ex Sharks).

Joe Schmidt's search for a 'cold-hearted bastard' - and the issue he'll lose most sleep over

Is that why NZ are the most carded team in world rugby? All of their imports? You have to laugh when New Zealanders accuse other sides of having lots of imports. 😂
Samisoni Taukei’aho,
Ethan de Groot,
Nepo Laulala,
Tyrel Lomax,
Ofa Tuʻungafasi,
Shannon Frizell,
Leicester Fainga’anuku, Sevu Reece,
Emoni Narawa. Etc.etc.

Ireland hold firm to clinch Six Nations, Gatland offers to quit as Wales hit 'rock bottom', France win thriller over England

Of course it was a missed opportunity, that’s seems a bit of an obvious statement.

Boks tend to be fine going in cold for these summer tour games. Ireland will need to be at their best in my view.

Jealous Kiwi alert! 😂 The fear coming from NZ over this Ireland side is quite something. Apparently the most pinged team and still beat most teams and win the championship.

lol ???? Peter O’Mahoney really rattled some cages.

Ireland hold firm to clinch Six Nations, Gatland offers to quit as Wales hit 'rock bottom', France win thriller over England

Over half the team wont be 34 plus because each year in this world cup cycle players will be replaced just as three new players were introduced this year. If you introduce three players per year thats 12 new players before the world cup which is more than enough. All good teams have a mix of young and old players anyway. I assume your article references the fact that the Ireland under 20s have only lost one match in the last 20 plus games (the under 20 world cup final) and havent lost a six nations match in three years? Seems to me there will be plenty of talent coming through. You do realise that yesterday was most likely Peter O’Mahoney’s last match for Ireland? Ryan Baird his understudy is a superior athlete to him already. Change is constant, not over night.

Ireland hold firm to clinch Six Nations, Gatland offers to quit as Wales hit 'rock bottom', France win thriller over England

Not that weird given SA havent played in four months and Ireland have just won a tournament. They also have the highest winning percentage of any team in the last few years so some people (mostly fans and media outside Ireland) are making the claim for some reason. Sure SA are world champs and probably are still the best side in the world but things can change quickly. Time will tell, SA havent won v Ireland in a while, if they demolish Ireland on their summer tour it will certainly set the record straight somewhat.
