Gold Coast are reportedly poised to sack coach Garth Brennan a day before the findings from a mid-season review are handed down to the NRL club’s board.
Brennan has won just 12 of 40 games at the helm of the Titans with Friday’s 24-2 defeat to Penrith leaving them last on the ladder with just four wins in 2019.
It’s expected Brennan’s assistants and club head of performance and culture Mal Meninga will take over the coaching of the team for the remainder of the season.
The Titans are expected to make an official announcement confirming Brennan’s departure later on Sunday.
Meninga led the review into the club’s football department, which came after the Titans slumped to their worst start to an NRL season after a 22-16 loss to Canterbury in May.
The Titans have made finals just three times since joining the competition in 2007.
Average crowds have slumped from a peak of 21,618 in 2008 to a low of 11,206 in 2019.

Would love the Walker Brothers to get the gig but they won't. They were passed over for Brennan. I guess that leaves Kevie if he wants it. There are just not many good coaches around. Maybe offer everything to Cameron Smith to coach in 2020.

Only NRL experienced coaches out there are Griffin and Flanagan, if the Titans have any money. Otherwise, they will go for a current assistant coach or maybe there is one in the UK?

Ed, I would be interested to know where you got your information from. Did you hear it in the wind or was from the mouth of somebody who definitely knows? We are all expecting Garth to be moved on (I think) but is this report 100% accurate?

I know that kevvie Walters has probably already been tapped on the shoulder by big mal, but I would really like to see the walker brothers get the gig for 2020. They’re unique brand of footy might actually be something you could grow a decent fanbase behind. Got to be better than the same old same old

He’s gone. The NRL has said they won’t bail out the Titans again. I also read The Suns are in trouble. It’s gotta be the region. National sports teams just don’t work on the Gold Coast.
