South Sydney skipper Sam Burgess is reportedly battling an infection in the wake of his shoulder surgery.
South Sydney captain Sam Burgess has reportedly been ruled out of NRL action indefinitely as he battles an infection which has set back his return from shoulder surgery.
Burgess has been sidelined for over a month following surgery on a previously re-constructed shoulder and had hoped to return against North Queensland on Saturday before being omitted.
News Corp Australia is reporting Burgess has had a drip inserted to control an infection, attending hospital daily to get it tended to.

South's lawyer was unavailable next Wednesday , so Sam had to delay his return till the following week. His lawyer will be in town then, just in case he's needed at the Judicary

Geez PS, will you be OK mate? (.....I can sense that vein on your forehead throbbing and the blood pressure slowly rise as you come to terms with the news....) Just remember - contact 1300 WTF FFS (1300 "We're The Fans, Fans For Souths") hotline should you require some counselling big fella! :)

He could be back next week. It was just originally reported by James Hooper with his usual level of accuracy and exaggeration.. Like "This will be the biggest story of the year - Latrell Mitchell will be joining the Bulldogs on a million dollar contract..." still waiting James. or The List of the top 10 bargain buys starting with Mika Sivo at $72,500 - when the league minimum according to the CBA is currently set at $105k....

Mate, this is a HUGE setback for Souths. Sam is the fuel that fires the Rabbitohs engine room, the cement that holds their forward pack together and the steel that strengthens them and makes opposition sides shudder with fear. Make no mistake this is a win for every other team in the NRL and the longer Sam is out the longer Souths will continue to coast in second gear. This is BAD news! Souths look set to be Burgessless for weeks to come and at a time when they need their forward pack to dominate so that our backs can get out of second gear. Remember, 2nd place on the ladder can turn to 8th or 9th in a few short weeks. The timing is particularly bad given Souths are now in the run home to the finals. I wish all these disruptions had happened at the start of the year instead. At least the Bunnies would have had time to recover in time for the business end of the season. Now it will be touch and go and if the Bunnies don't finish in the top 4 (especially with a home final in week 1 of the finals) then their chances of a 22nd premiership this year will be slim to none.

Sam will be right, its a set back but hell be back in 2 to 3 weeks max, if not sooner. Get well Sammy!
