The Newcastle Knights belong to their fans

By The King of the World / Roar Guru

Since their inception, the Newcastle Knights have had 819 matches, 398 games at home, 312 players, 32 seasons, 32 skippers, 11 coaches and one incredibly passionate and loyal fan-base like no other.

If any other team went through what we did, they wouldn’t have their supporters showing up in massive numbers.

The loyal, passionate fan-base stuck with them during the hard times and did their bit in the rebuild by being there when their team needed them.

Wests bought the club to keep them in existence and we thank you for it. The club belongs to you, but the team belongs to us.

So how do the fans own the Knights? Allow me to elaborate.

Whether they have been fans from day one or supporters who joined along the way, we have seen the Newcastle Knights during their glory days and their darkest times.

We know who we’ve had play for us, we know who bled red and blue for our team on the football field and we showed them love for it, which they returned serve.

Many Knights supporters show up both home and away to cheer them on. Most times we outnumber the home team supporters and let the infamous “New-cas-tle” chant run through the place.

So it doesn’t matter who has bought the club, us hard-working fans who either live locally, drive or catch public transport own the team.

Whether you own one Knights jersey or 50, have a Knights tattoo or not, and regardless of how many games you’ve been to, you’re one of the many fans the team belongs to.

Born Again ! It's Summer. There's no footy on, A new Season beckons. Keep drinking whatever it is you are. Stick on a Knights jersey and check out your reflection in a shop window, We're a long time dead, so enjoy your team and sing their praises. ( I'm tipping 0-40 first game against the Mighty Sea Eagles though)

"most of the time we outnumber the home fans" simply isn't true. Admire your passion but don't let passion get in the way of common sense

Always good to hear from a passionate fan and the Knights have one of the most loyal fanbases in the League! Best of luck for the season...and if you are successful this year I'll be claiming Storm credits via your new coach!

You can get one for double the size and for only half the price and no one will check how much you paid for it.

"......have a Knights tattoo or not...." Remember Adrian, when you want to get rid of that eyesore just call : * Newcastle Tattoo Removal, or, * Hunter Laser Tattoo Removal. It'll be the best money you'll ever spend and save you lifelong embarrassment! ;)

Just eggs I am afraid sir. I must have got your order mixed up. Another customer is raving about the meat sandwich when he wanted eggs.

This was an impressive press release, offering an optimistic applause for long-suffering fans. Yet, with this article, there was no meat in the sandwich.

Adrian, I think this was supposed to have been posted on a Newcastle supporters club homepage. Love the passion, but not sure why you put it on the Roar?
