I don't care about the arguments. Having been through Fitzroy's eviction from the league I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
It's just not worth the pain it would cause.
The argument to dump North Melbourne doesn’t sit well with me - and I’m a fan from a Northern state. Non Victorian followers of the game are often exasperated by the parochialism of Melbourne HQ ( cop the decision to call the new reserves competition featuring teams from Victoria, NSW and Queensland the “VFL”.) But every Aussie Rules supporter should honour the game’s tradition. It reminds me of when Rupert Murdoch took over Rugby League and wanted to dump Souths because he “ didn’t like losers”. Souths, an inner city club, broke, with shrinking support , though once fabled had been at the bottom of the ladder for years. Murdoch didn’t understand two things. 1. You can’t have winners in sport without losers. There has to be a wooden spooner as well as a champion. If you rub out the current “loser”, who’s next? . 2. The wheel turns. Souths, having survived, is a powerhouse again. Why put Kangaroo fans through the torment South fans went through in fighting to save their heritage.
The three biggest TV audiences for AFL Grand Finals are 2005, 2006 and 2016. All featured the Swans. True Swans fans are not rusted on like Melbourne based fans but survey after survey shows they have a huge underlying supporter base.
There are too many teams in Victoria.
AFL is supposedly a national comp but the over-abundance of teams in Vic/Melbourne plus the AFL heavies in that state throwing their weight around and getting nasty whenever a non-Victorian team has success plus all the homesick babies who play a few seasons out of Victoria then need to go home is a dead weight on a national competition.
At least one Vic team should go or be relocated, two would be better.
Who cares which ones.
All the heart-rending weeping and moaning and gnashing of teeth when South Melbourne relocated is now but a dim memory for the few who are still alive to tell the tale.
Oh, and moving the GF around would be a good move as well.
Hateful, ignorant, disrespectful article. North have been one of the more successful teams in the last 50 years (look it up- not that I’d imagine you’d do much research). They also are more financially viable than most clubs with impending Arden precinct development. They are more relevant than you and I.
This is rubbish,North melbourne will be there again just need a few years to settle the side still a couple of players there that need to be moved on at the end of the year , then a few more young players to help bring us back up the ladder
North fans just need be patient it will happen and forget about the negativity from the outside.

To be fair though, the Rabbitohs have a large supporter base that just needed on field competitiveness and success to turn them around.

Well...considering the AFL has put in parasite clubs in Gold Coast & West Sydney, it's harsh to have a crack at NM!

honest doesn't mean it's true, the whole premise is factually incorrect.

This would've been good if it wasn't completely factually false. At least seem like you're trying not to troll.

Learn to research my friend. North does not have the lowest membership numbers of any afl club. You sir are a clown.
