Get your questions in for Issue 9 of Coach's Corner

By The Roar / Editor

It’s a Tuesday, and you know what that means: time to ask your questions for Coach’s Corner.

If you still haven’t familiarised yourself with Coach’s Corner, it’s the weekly column where, each Friday, the wonderful Nick Bishop delves into a collection of questions posed by you.

Miss the latest issue of Coach’s Corner? Catch up before the next edition this week.

As is becoming the norm, we were treated to four thrilling Super Rugby matches this past weekend, with the entire quartet of games decided by under seven points. The result is a close-run race for the second finals spot on both sides of the Tasman, with Round 10 to decide third place in Australia this week and the next fortnight to sort things out in Aotearoa.

And just to top things off, we’re edging ever closer to the announcement of this year’s British and Irish Lions squad after the panel of Warren Gatland’s assistant coaches was announced last week.

If you have any questions about any of those topics, or anything else rugby-related, drop them in the comments section.

Remember, don’t make your comments too general and wide-ranging – the more specific, the easier they are to answer.

So be sure to leave your questions for Nick below, and be sure to check back on Friday to see if there’s an answer waiting for you.

I think Stewart could be a nice fill in, but not a long term prospect and Hegarty is like plain tost, except it's still white! ???? But a young prospect flyhalf who's able to hold down a spot would be wonderful. Kuenzle could be another option. Heck maybe the Reds have someone they've earmarked at club already, but whoever it is getting some super time would be nice.

Probably why the wallabies are so rubbish these days as Hooper every game without fail clogs up the backline instead of doing the hard yards in tight.

Like I said with the troops they had available. I'm not going to bother arguing with you over this. I believe Shaun Berne has not got the most out of his players

100% agree. If OConnor goes down we are back to Hegarty or Stewart, both are a big drop in quality as proven last year. It is still the biggest weakness in my mind.

As a Reds fan I wouldn't mind pinching one of them. But I don't think that's quite the 'Reds way' at the moment.

Hi Nick, this has possibly been asked before. At the international coaching level, how do you manage the risk/reward of debuting development players when it is not clear that they unseat their incumbent. I am particularly thinking of Western Force hooker Feleti Kaitu'u, given his recent performances, there is a sense he is showing more promise than test incumbents Folau Fainga'a and Jordan Uelese. With Brandon Paenga Amosa certain to the take the yellow No. 2, should Dave Rennie risk having a debutant hooker on the bench over the likes of tried and tested Fainga'a and Uelese?

Nic would you see the PI teams being part of a local comp like Drua with Aus and Pacifika with NZ and then only the top 3 from each going into a TT comp or do you see a total 12 team round robin with a top 5 (or something) final? My personal preference is the first option because I think it generates more local support as a home & away locally.

I'm interested to hear Nick's take on Donaldson if he's seen enough. For what it's worth, I actually thought he shaded Harrison in that junior world cup when he got game time at 10.

Was it last year, or the year before? Regardless my point is when the Rebels have a REAL flyhalf at 10 they are a heck of a lot better in attack.

The whole comp was ‘very poor’ last year.

And a different halves pairing in 2019. Genia and he who I dare not name.
