Get your questions in for Issue 22 of Coach's Corner

By The Roar / Editor

The Bledisloe Cup beckons but there’s plenty to discuss before then in this week’s edition of Coach’s Corner, a whole 62 minutes of it. That Rassie Erasmus video and the Wallabies’ inspiring 33-30 win over France should provide more than enough discussion points to chew the fat.

For any newbies; every second Friday, The Roar’s resident rugby expert, Nick Bishop, is on deck to answer all your rugby-related questions.

Miss the latest issue of Coach’s Corner? Catch up right here!

Australia’s thrilling series with France is just asking for a review, capped off by the Wallabies’ effort with one man down after Marika Koroibete saw red five minutes in – a decision that was rightfully overturned by World Rugby’s judiciary.

Speaking of officiating, did Erasmus’ rant play any part in the refereeing of the Lions vs Springboks second test? What punishment awaits South Africa’s director of Rugby? Did any of his comments have merit?

The Springboks captain certainly thought they did .

Nick Bishop will be discussing Rassie Erasmus’ infamous monologue and whether any points were valid as well as the Wallabies win over France.

Get your questions in on these two topics and anything else related that you’re keen to get an answer to. Then come back later in the week to get your response from the Coach!

Yes I feel pressure is so great they are playing to not lose as apposed to playing to win. SA have had some tries disallowed and on the balance it's about right but how many time have the lions been in that position to go upstairs?

I think you can have bias for one team or another but what I'm feeling is a bias by some of the rugby purists against blaming the officials for a given outcome regardless of how bad it may have been. Even if it was, say 65% 35% against the box game one as I saw it. I suspect there may be bias in the form of the latter, but I very much doubt the former GD.

Thanks Nic, I'll check that out. The other thing I've spoken about before and that is two touch Judges either side. One could police the off side which everyone seems to be clearly breaking ATM and just those extra eyes to clean up dirty tactics of the ball.

No, Nick is fair dinkum..his only mistake that he coached with Gatland and therefore give him too much credit. I think Warrenball is pretty boring and the only way to beat Warrenball is with more Warrenball.

Yes, I’d have put Jamie G in to stabilise set pieces. Also, the 9-12-13 is just a shuffle

He is a good TMO, Gatland’s criticism of his role and decisions in the A team game meant that he is damned if he makes a decision in any direction even if it is the correct decision . Now Jonker picks the camera angles for the referee to decide.. well played Gatland but you will not get away with it again. Rassie forced World Rugby to take a stance and the officials will benefit the most.

I think the two front rows should be Mako-George-Tadhg to start with Marler-LCD-Sinckler bench. Time for that passed many moons ago! Duhan prob should have been sent off by the 23rd min for two Y/C offences! He makes so many mistakes in positioning, and is so slow on the uptake it is unreal. I’d like to see the Lions win but I am not convinced they really deserve to, in terms of selection and tactics. You have to take the title by doing something positive.

Mate, have you missed the irony in your post? Also, I see your fairly new, so you wouldn’t know that historically I’ve been one of the more reasonable and fair minded. Lately however I’ve gotten fed up with the antagonistic diatribe some posters continue to spout. My disrespect is reserved for those that have either done nothing to earn it, or have lost it. It’s also ok that you don’t like me, you don’t have to.

Yes, against a very good scrum Bongi. I really don’t get sticking with Duhan. He looks ready to unravel. And I thought Faletau would make the starting XV. Not sure what he thinks Bundee Aki will do against Damian. They need more footy players in the backs of they want to round the corners on the wings. Beard on bench is good. Maul + LO defender. The poor selections pre-tour at 13 has created a lack of any combination

They have to back up the law amendments they made at the breakdown in 2020 Yabster. They are simply not clearing the tackler away quickly enough, or demanding a clear release of the tackled player.

Also how has Ken Owens got the nod at #2, he looked like a weak scrumming link in the bench F/R?

Mostert worked very well at 6 for the last half hour, and the SA big men reversed the trend of the previous Test. Advantage Boks in selection...

Yes. But I suppose that loose trio (Mostert, Wiese, Kolisi) is all very hard.

Harry I'm happy to keep an open mind, but like I said if I go through the comments it all been very uncomplimentary when it comes to the Springboks.

Wiese has been disappointing, he is a poor man’s Thor, happy for Reinach, he will bring some variety in play.
