VOTE: Wallabies player ratings from second Test vs Argentina

By The Roar / Editor

For the first time, the Wallabies have won four on the bounce in The Rugby Championship, finishing off the tournament with another win over Argentina.

With tours of Japan and the UK looming large, it’s time for you to decide who shone and who stunk it up for the Aussies on the Gold Coast.

You can give each Wallabies player a score from one to ten in the form below. If you didn’t catch enough of someone’s performance or don’t think they were on the field long enough for you to make a judgment, just leave them blank and it won’t affect their score – you don’t need to rate every player.

If you need a rough guide as to what each score means, here’s what we go off.

1. Had he not played, the team would have been better off. Negatively affected the performance of the side. May God John Eales have mercy on his soul.
2. Anonymous. Was he even there?
3. Did some things that you expect a player to be able to do, but did a whole bunch of other things that sucked.
4. Was passable in patches, but not up to standard in a match of such importance.
5. Performed his role without anything really noticeable happening.
6. Good.
7. Pretty good, actually.
8. Very good.
9. Excellent.
10. Extraordinary. Calling them man of the match would be an insult.

Ready to go? Head onto the form below and get cracking!

Has he provided less in attack though, Peter? Ikitau has both scored tries himself and had multiple assists. I remember Paisami looking busy but not having a very noticeable effect.

ozinsa - I think he has done very well. A lot better than Paisami. Less highlight reels, slightly less attack. However a lot better kicking game. A lot less errors. Better positioning. Better defence. Better decision making. I would keep him at 13 for sure.

JOC at 12 would change significantly the role expected of Ikitau. I’d like to see how he copes

You make a fair point. We lacked good alternatives. I’m very bullish on the young bloke though and hope we continue to pick him with somebody else at 12 whilst Kerevi is injured. We get a chance to observe him in a different circumstance. I suggest he’ll be fine

ozinsa - I agree re last year in making the squad. Not this year where he had seen him in super rugby all year and having had him the squad. Remember the statement was not just a left field selection but very left field. Also remember there was not much competition for 13.

Pm...that is what happens when you got shelved for a long time as in the case of tom Wright and are hoping to make the squad...

I think Pete..paisami should be shelved like tom Wright and pistol Pete was and then work his way back into the day match squad...I would rather have an experience bloke like JOC who hasn't played for a while at 12 there then Paisami..as for 13 I'll push for Perese as back up if he made the squad...surely they will work on his defence

They were my picks of bench players too. Bell is super consistent, always good

Fair to say he’s been off that other Worldly form he delivered early. Maybe a rest against Japan?

I often wonder about the crooked scrum feed. It’s de rigueur in RL but unnecessary in rugby. Refs should ping it

If you compare what Gordon did for the Tahs when he came in and what Powell did for the Rebels, no comparison

I’m a fan so this opinion probably lacks total clarity but I thought he was tossed into a mess and was OK. If he’d turned things around he’d have scored very high

Is that you Brad? Thorn has done a lot of good things with Qld but he got the calls on Cooper and Slipper dead wrong. I think the Cooper call was personal and unpleasant and the Slipper call spoke of a callousness that his team first ethic should have made impossible. A team legend needed the support of the team and instead he was cast out. Unforgivable

I don’t agree Peter. Somebody spotted something in Ikitau very early, with literally just a handful of SR caps. Picking him in a Wallaby squad at the time was a huge gamble, he’d done nothing to merit it. Then sticking with him and promoting him to starting 13 was inspired and brave selecting. All credit to DR and whoever else was part of that call

Valentini has made the step up. He’s so bloody strong. I don’t know for sure if 6 or 8 is his best position and will leave that call to experts who know better but he’s cast in stone in one of those jumpers. So pleased for him

None have the work rate of MK. If that’s how we judge wingers, they all fail

Was ACC a great finisher? I think he was a great rugby player but I’m not sure he was an out and out winger. I preferred him at 13. He was a brilliant defensive 13 and ran great lines off set piece plays from there. I’d have picked 3/4 of the current wingers ahead of him

I didn’t notice him. I was a little disappointed with his contribution frankly. And I was predisposed to be positive, I think. But he may have done some tight stuff I missed.
