Collingwood have walloped the Crows by 11 goals to keep themselves in the conversation for a top four spot, and likely bring to an end Adelaide’s hopes of playing finals.

Sam Jacobs had 15 hit outs and 12 disposals in his 200th, which could be his last game in the red, yellow and blue. Brodie Smith and Paul Seedsman were the best for the Crows, while Darcy Fogarty kicked three.

For the Pies, there were plenty of contributors. Jamie Elliott had a day out with five goals, Scott Pendlebury had 34 touches and Brayden Maynard 30. Josh Thomas kicked three goals, while four other players kicked two goals.

Adelaide fell out of the eight by 1.5 per cent at the end of Round 21, after a 10-point loss to West Coast in Perth late last Sunday.

Their South Australian rivals took the spot, however, a tight finish to the Eagles clash keeps the Crows in the hunt for the finals’ spot.

Collingwood is breaking out of its post-bye form slump with a couple of wins – admittedly against bottom four sides – the latest was a 17-point win against Melbourne.

After leading by as much as 42-points early in the fourth term, the Magpies allowed a few late Demons’ goals to reduce the final margin to under three goals.

The injury list is a huge talking point for Collingwood this season and while they look like getting some big names back just in time for finals, one mistake from a young mid-on Monday night has many in shock.

In a domestic basketball league on Monday night, old mate “Phil Inn” played around 20 minutes of a local game, despite being sidelined from the AFL with a calf injury.

Collingwood is yet to decide on a sanction for Brayden Sier, who will miss a fourth game through injury this weekend, but it’s a dodgy look for a team trying to put 22 healthy players on the field.

The Adelaide Crows have made two changes, recalling improved ruckman Reilly O’Brien and milestone wingman Paul Seedsman.

Andy Otten and Rory Atkins have been omitted from the side. Alex Keath will return from an ankle injury through the SANFL.

Adelaide has selected two ruckman to tackle the challenge of in-form Magpie Brodie Grundy, who has averaged 42 hit-outs, six clearances, 21 disposals and 122 AFL Fantasy points this season.

Collingwood have made one selection change; mid-season draftee John Noble will return to the team.

Noble injured his calf in his debut against West Coast, but has impressed in the VFL and earnt AFL selection.

Josh Daicos has been omitted.

Paul Seedsman returns for his 100th AFL game, while Sam Jacobs – only recalled to the line-up last weekend – plays his 200th AFL match.

Magpie Levi Greenwood also reaches a milestone, celebrating game number 150 in Adelaide this weekend.

The last time these two sides met was in Round 4 last year, Collingwood ruled the Adelaide Oval contest with a comprehensive 48-point victory.

Prediction
Collingwood have secured a place in the top eight, just what position will they finish? Should they win this and results go their way, top four is still a chance.

Adelaide need a win, as simple as that. After taking it to the Premiers away last week, the Crows return home and will be desperate to get the job done.
