The Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide Power meet in one of the AFL’s most traditionally spiteful and passionate clashes. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4:35pm (AEST).

The ‘showdown’ is always one of the most interesting clashes on the AFL fixture list. This version should be no different, as a slow-building Adelaide meet an increasingly inconsistent Port at the Adelaide Oval.

The Crows have sneaked their way up to 6th place on the AFL ladder after a consecutive run of victories; only halted by Geelong last weekend. There is no disgrace in that and Adelaide have shown enough over the last six weeks to convince many that they could be a danger come semi-final time.

Josh Jenkins makes a stunning early return from what appeared a frightful knee injury just 21 days ago and the Crows are near full strength for this clash. Tex Walker and Eddie Betts will, as usual, be the main dangers up front and Matt and Brad Crouch will be vital for the Crows if they are able to establish dominance in the midfield.

The Power welcome Justin Westhoff and Tom Rockliff back into their team for this game and that may go some way to providing a more predictable performance than the one they dished up against the Western Bulldogs in Round 15. The talk of the football world is that Port Adelaide cannot be trusted.

After knocking off the Cats they appeared to have arrived yet the measly 41 points they could muster against the Dogs was atrocious.

The Jekyll and Hyde nature of the Power will need to be addressed if they are to parlay their 7-7 start to the season into finals play in 2019.

Currently outside the eight on percentage, a win in the showdown will go a long way towards helping people believe in them again, after what has been a weird and unpredictable fortnight of football from Ken Hinkley’s men.

Prediction
Port Adelaide to win. Without real certainty, I feel that Port are indeed a little better than all bar the top two or three teams in the competition when in full flight.

The issue has been knowing when they are going to produce that class and when they will fail to get off the bus and compete. If Port cannot find the motivation in the biggest match of the AFL season in Adelaide they will be a complete mystery bet. They should find something tonight and dish up a beating to the Crows.

Port Adelaide by 4 goals.

Nothing changes at Adelaide. Gold Coast next week will paper over the cracks.

When they are on like when they crunched my boys they look about five paces quicker, it's awesome to watch.

The Gibbs trade is looking like an absolute disaster - and they probably have him for another two seasons unless they can find someone to take him - surely they must have known what he can and can't bring to the squad - he's not the only problem though - a lot of the senior players showed nothing in this match. Disgraceful performance in that second half.

Great second half by Port! Crows not a genuine contender, not sure where they are at but won't trouble any side if they make the finals. An ageing forward line in Walker, Betts and Jenkins is a serious concern for the Crows going forward. If Port make the finals will trouble a few sides if they are switched. Have got a few players with x factor.

What a win for Port Adelaide, as they dust up their nemesis by 57 points at the Adelaide Oval. Things started in a gripping and tight manner over the first two quarters. The teams were level at the first break and Port took a three point lead into half time. When Tex Walker exploded after the long interval, Adelaide looked likely. From then on, it was a canter for Port as they piled on goals at will and the Crows lost theirs. The Showdown never fails to deliver and on this occasion it announced to the entire AFL that Port's wins over Geelong and West Coast were no fluke. They look like the real deal when they play in the manner they did against the Crows tonight. Final Score Adelaide…………........5..14…44 Port Adelaide………….15..11…101

Excellent performance by Port and totally embarrassing performance by the Crows whose season is now in tatters Serious question marks over whether Pike has a coaching future and some senior Crows must be on borrowed time

To think that the Power were 6.2 at one stage... They've scored 9.9 since. And while being bashed, the Crows have lost 6%

Have thoroughly enjoyed this second half from Port!! Huge win in the end, accurate (for once!) though the fact we only get up for these 'big' games is getting frustrating. Ah well, I'll enjoy the bragging rights here in SA!
