Round 18 concludes with a buoyant Gold Coast travelling to Melbourne to face Essendon needing a win to keep their finals hopes alive. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 4:40pm (AEST).

The Suns’ win after the siren against Richmond last week is in the clubhouse for their best win ever, but means nothing in the context of the season if they can’t back it up today.

Goalsneak Izak Rankine is a handy return from health and safety protocols, as the Suns look to keep apace with the top eight; a loss today would leave them two wins out and struggling to make up the difference.

The Bombers head in off the back of consecutive wins over top-eight sides; a stirring comeback victory over Sydney and an upset triumph at the Gabba over a COVID-hit Brisbane.

As a result, the previously struggling Dons are high on confidence, and with in-form defender Mason Redman back, are primed and ready to impact the finals race once again.

Rendell hates the Pies since we sacked him doesn't he! Grundy and Gawn together! Blimey.

Peter, Grundy to Melbourne, Jackson to Freo looks like a great bet. Matt Rendell your mate suggested this on SEN & also said your team will cough up 200K per year to see out Grundy contract but l reckon about 100K. Cheeky bugger Matt loves to thought provoke & rub it in with your misuse of contract negotiations :stoked:

I still reckon the Bombers need to look hard at trading Parish. He is our best player but he gets too many nothing possessions and he’s too similar to McGrath and Merrett

I expect we will finish 13th or 14th giving us pick 6 or 5. That would have been good enough to get Curnow or McKay in their draft. Hobbs was pick 13, Cox, Perkins and Reid were 6 to 8. Merrett was 26. We don’t want a poor finish to the season, we want to be a destination club and that will be important in the end of season trading. We certainly need a big bodied midfielder, notice how our form has changed since Stringer and Langford returned. Look at the big bodies in the top teams, noticeably with Geelong.

We moved up to 13th we don’t want that I want a good pick at this years draft and the statistics surrounding pick 5-6 aren’t great
